Our home is part of a coop Art Deco building located on Grand Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan near the east river and the Williamsburg bridge. It is in walking distance to the East Village, Little Italy, Soho, Nolita, and Chinatown. The closest subway station is Delancey Street F train, which can get you anywhere you want to go. There are great restaurants, movie theaters, museums, galleries, and shopping within a 10 minute walk. The building has laundry, elevator, and 24-hour security, it also has a beautiful court yard garden. Our apartment is on the 3rd floor and all the windows look out onto private parks, making it very very quiet. There is also a playground and park right right outside our window. There are two bedrooms--one king size bed and two twins and there are toys available age 5-10, also lots of books.
Our area has traditionally been an immigrant and working class neighborhood but has become rapidly gentrified over the years, with lots of hip restaurants & bars, art galleries, and boutique shopping. You can still find some old gems like the pickle makers and the bialy bakery. Our local museum, The Tenement Museum pretty much sums up the history of the neighborhood : https://www.tenement.org/
The neighborhood borders china town and the east village.
Our building is slightly away from the hustle and bustle and closer to the east river, where there is a beautiful park and ferries that can take you anywhere around the city (it is a great way to get around if you have the time).
