What you will love about this home
Our house was built in the 1870s, but we've upgraded it since then! It has a modern extension at the back with a snug TV room and a big kitchen/dining area. It has two reception rooms, three bedrooms (two big ones and a smaller one, all with double beds) and two bathrooms, and a downstairs toilet. It's a nice meeting of the old and the modern. It is situated on a private square (we have a key) with tennis courts and a community garden. Around the corner from the house is a lovely bakery, a wine bar, a restaurant and a shop. Down the road, the town of Rathmines has lots more - an art house cinema, an omniplex cinema and lots of bars and restaurants. We live in quite an historic area - James Joyce was born on our square!
What you will love about this neighborhood
Our home is in Rathgar, a Victorian suburb of Dublin. It's 3.6km from Stephen's Green, the main shopping area in Dublin. It's 9km from the Dublin mountains, and it's 13km from city swimming in Sandycove on the south side of Dublin Bay. There is a big Joycean connection to our area - Bloomsday is big around here!
It's close to the city, but is in a lovely, leafy, redbrick area.
You can get to the city centre quickly, but also up into the mountains or to the coast.
It is comfortable, bright and spacious. And we have great neighbours.
