What you will love about this home
Our apartment is on the second floor of a security complex with lifts. It has a large balcony off the combined lounge/dining room, and a smaller balcony off the bedroom and it is lovely to sit outdoors on warm evenings. The second bedroom is now our study. We have an ensuite plus a second bathroom with a bath, and air-conditioning throughout the apartment. The kitchen is well-equipped, with a dishwasher and enough kitchen gadgets to make cooking at home easy, though you may want to try some of the excellent restaurants nearby.
What you will love about this neighborhood
North Sydney is a vibrant part of Sydney, mixing historical buildings, and multi-story modern apartment and office buildings. Sydney Harbour is a short walk away as is the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
We love living in North Sydney as public transport is so good - on one side of our apartment block there are buses which go over the Harbour Bridge and take about 15 minutes at most to get into the city. There are also buses that go to the beautiful Northern beaches of Sydney, or to the major shopping centre, Chatswood.
We can also walk or take a 5-10 minute bus ride to Sydney Harbour where we can enjoy a scenic ferry ride to the city, with spectacular views of the Sydney Opera House & Harbour Bridge.
We walk to either North Sydney or Crows Nest to shop or meet friends for a meal - it's about an 8 minute, pleasant walk and there are many good restaurants serving cuisines from all over the world. Since moving here a few years ago, we do not use our car as much, which is good for our purse and the environment !
We regularly walk in nearby St. Leonards Park, a lovely green oasis, where we sometimes stop at "The Greens", a bowling club with a very good restaurant and views to the city. All visitors are welcome there, too. There are many birds in the park - magpies, kookaburras, cockatoos and lorikeets are just some.
There is a golf course in the next suburb, Cammeray, and tennis courts are just over the road from our apartment. The northern beaches can be reached easily by bus, or the city with its galleries, museums and parks can be reached by bus or train over the Harbour Bridge.
There are many interesting walks and we love walking to Lavender Bay and following the harbour walk around to Luna Park and Milson's Point where we look over to the Opera House and the city from under the Harbour bridge. Bushland bordering the harbour is also close by, and Aboriginal carvings can still be found there.
Terrific location, close to all amenities and cultural attractions. Sydney is a vibrant city, with the Festival of Sydney in January, Mardi Gras in February and Vivid Light Shows in winter.
We work off the excellent meals from the many cafés close by in our swimming pool, gym & sauna
Only 10-15 minutes by bus to the city centre, Opera House - Sydney Harbour is closer.
We prefer locations in cities or large towns with good public transport nearby as we don’t drive in Europe. We are happy to exchange in your winter/our summer if you want to take advantage of our splendid outdoor activities.
