Our home is a three-story, 1930s semi-detached house located just 3 minutes’ walk from the Phoenix Park (https://phoenixpark.ie), one of the largest enclosed public parks in Europe with its resident herds of deer, lots of historical treasures and literally 1,000s of hectares and miles of trails to explore. It’s a paradise for walking, biking or just a family picnic as well as being home to several kids playgrounds, Dublin Zoo and the home of both the president of Ireland and the American Ambassador.
We extended and extensively renovated the house in 2019 to make it a warm, comfortable light-filled home that works really well for our family of 3 active teenagers. It has off-street parking and front and back gardens, including a lovely granite patio area overlooking a large south facing garden with lots of stuff for kids - trampoline, basketball hoop, goal posts, etc. as well as being the perfect place to just sit and have a coffee or tea in the morning.
The ground floor is open plan with a wood stove and comfy couches and Netflix for cooler evenings in the sitting room. The playroom has a range of board games, table football, pool and hockey as well as a PS5 with its own 50inch / 127 cm TV. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need. Our first floor contains the bedrooms while the top floor is a large office/bedroom space with views over Dublin city as far as the Dublin Mountains 25kms away.
Our neighborhood is a quiet residential area located just 15-20 mins by bus from Dublin City centre, with its range of historic sights, parks, shopping, restaurants, cafes and bars. There's a frequent bus service to the city centre and the nearest bus stop is just 1 minute away from our front door.
The location is extremely convenient for all your daily needs, with a supermarket, pharmacies, post office, a library and a public gym with a 25m swimming pool all within a few minutes’ walk. For socializing, there are a range of cafes, wine bar/ restaurants (check out https://holeinthewallpub.com/), pubs and our local bakery for your morning coffee and pastry / fresh bread fix. All within a 15 minute walk
A 20 minute walk or 10-minute cycle (we have 6 bikes here) takes you to buzzy Stoneybatter, which timeout.com has termed Ireland’s coolest neighbourhood.
https://www.timeout.com/dublin/things-to-do/stoneybatter-dublin-guide with its range of cafes, delis, restaurants and bars. Immediately adjacent to Stoneybatter is Smithfield, home of the Lighthouse cinema, the Jameson distillery and one of Dublin’s best pubs for traditional Irish music – the Cobblestone. If you want to travel further afield then our location means that you can be in Galway and travelling along the Wild Atlantic Way in two hours. Two hours will also get you to Belfast, while you can be in County Wicklow with its amazing hiking trails in 30 minutes.
If you need to do a bit of work while you travel, we are well set up with 500Mb fibre broadband and several desks to work from. Dublin also has many English language schools that offer ranges of courses for every level.
