What you will love about this home
Ours is a big and beautiful home overlooking Hars Mountain and the Mariaremete valley in the Northwest corner of Budapest. It's built on the side of the hill, and picture windows in the living room and kitchen offer a striking view of this lovely section of the fascinating city of Budapest. Plenty of outdoor dining possibilities are offered by the sheltered south facing porch and the five level garden below the house. Just a 20 minute drive and one reaches the center of the fascinating global city of Budapest.
Agnes and I are pleased to make available for our summer guests our large living/dining room, the newly equipped kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms each with their own full baths, a room for the washer and dryer, and the magnificent dining porch.
What you will love about this neighborhood
1) It is in Budapest! We don't need to tell guests why this is one of the world's greatest cities. A five-minute drive down the hill, or a 15 minute walk, takes one to a bus or tram connection into one of the worlds most efficient mass transit systems. Or, keep on driving down Huvosvolgy Street, beautiful green hills surrounding on both sides, and you quickly reach the beautiful Danube River and the many attractions of the city center. But your house is in the hills, where residents of Budapest have for so long sought places to stay to catch the cool breezes while the urban center gets uncomfortably warm.
2) We should also mention that our neighborhood hosts wonderful cake and coffee houses (Bekeidok is our favorite) and several really outstanding restaurants (Nansci Neni is right down our hill; and the splendid Petnehazy resort is just over the next hill--good dining, great pools, saunas, hiking). Keep driving out of town and one soon reaches the Pilis mountains, the lovely Danube Bend, stately Esztergom, and the magnificent spa at Visegrad.

1) We are on a hillside. Be ready for 11 steps down from the street to the front gate and then another dozen steps up and down to reach the front door. Inside there are three levels. One bedroom and bath are up six steps. The second bedroom and bath are another 12 steps up.
2) We bring in Ildiko, a dependable housecleaner, every week or so. If you'd like her to come during your stay, that can be arranged.
3) The house has a totally separate ground floor apartment. Agnes' mother lives there, and she and neighbor Janos can deal with any problems that might come up in the house.
4) One caution on getting here. There are two streets in Budapest named "Sip utca", or " Whistle Street". Ours is in the second district of the city, on the Buda side. The other Sip Street is right in the heart of Pest's 7th district . Make sure you use the right address: Budapest II, Sip utca 29, Hungary 1028. Even taxi drivers sometime get the two addresses confused.
