In July, Mary, her partner, and her kids spent some time in Eydon, England for her third exchange. She was kind enough to share her experience home swapping and visiting the English countryside with her family.

What did you appreciate most about the home you stayed in?

It was an English cottage that was built over 300 years ago. The stairs creaked and the attic floor was uneven. It had an amazing garden with chickens.

What did you appreciate most about your exchange partner?

We were only supposed to stay 3 nights, but our next home fell through. The family made arrangements to house the following guests elsewhere so we could stay there through the end of our trip.

What did you see or do during your exchange?

The first afternoon we were in the cottage, there was a lovely rainbow framing the back garden. We traveled throughout the area and saw Stratford-on-Avon, Oxford and Blenheim Palace.

What is one of your best memories or experiences from a home exchange?

Being near enough to the beach to hear the crashing of the waves.

I love talking about my experiences with HomeExchange to friends and family.

What tips and tricks would you give to new HomeExchangers?

Communication is key. Ask questions beforehand and reach out during your stay if something comes up.
