How HomeExchange works

HomeExchange allows you to travel all over the world (and locally!) by exchanging your home with other members securely and without any financial transaction. You have lots of flexibility organizing exchanges because they can be organized reciprocally (I go to your home and you come to mine), or non-reciprocally with GuestPoints (I go to your home and you go to someone else’s home).

What we offer

  1. It’s free to sign up and search for an exchange
    It's free to sign up and start a conversation with other members to organize an exchange. Only when you’re ready to finalize your exchange will you need to activate the annual membership.
  2. Our annual membership
    For just €130/year, you can travel as many times as you want, with whoever you want, wherever you like, while benefiting from the HomeExchange guarantees.
  3. A private home for you and your loved ones
    No need to wear a mask as soon as you leave your room, no risk of bumping into strangers in the lobby. You’ll be on a vacation with all the comfort and safety of your own home.
  4. A flexible cancellation policy
    From our generous GuestPoints refund policy to our home replacement help, if your exchange has been cancelled, our member support team is here for you.

Some questions asked

  1. What health measures are you advocating during this pandemic period?
    As a HomeExchanger, you can rest assured that this way of travel is safer than hotels or commercial accommodations that host many people each month. When you home exchange, you're going to someone else's home, their safest place. You get to enjoy the entire home for yourself, with no risk of bumping into strangers in common areas. During this pandemic, some additional precautions should be put into place for the safety of your guests. You can find our recommendations in this article.
  2. Due to travel restrictions, I haven’t been able to organize exchanges, so I did not renew my subscription. Will I be able to renew it again when the restrictions are lifted? And do I get to keep my GuestPoints?
    Yes, of course you can renew your membership again when you’re ready to travel again! The only downside is that you won’t get to enjoy our loyalty benefits if you don’t renew before it expires. And yes, you’ll get to keep your GuestPoints, they never expire.
  3. I activated my membership in March and I haven’t been able to travel since. Am I eligible for the second year free guarantee?
    Yes! If you are unable to organize an exchange in the first year of your membership, we offer you the second year for free. You can find more information here.
  4. What advantages do you offer compared to Airbnb?
    HomeExchange is synonymous with welcome. You stay in real homes of real members. For HomeExchangers, exchanging homes is a unique way to explore the world, but above all, it is a unique way to "live" the world and to feel welcome in any destination. Trust and communication are keys in our HomeExchange values, and with this way of traveling you can learn the real meaning of sharing. You can read more about the differences here.
