Treating yourself to a summer trip with your daughter as a single mom

As a single parent when I was made redundant things seemed bleak, my daughter was also doing her GCSEs so lets just say it was a stressful time in our house! But then I thought of HomeExchange and realised that I could turn the summer of 2026 into something special.

Whilst I am off work and my daughter finishes school early why not take a trip of a lifetime? So I embarked on messaging people on the site and managed to plot a 6 week trip from the UK up the east coast of Australia all on home exchange!

My daughter was originally born in Sydney but never got to see the rest of the country so this will be a perfect opportunity, without spending lots of money and with the comfort of local homes. Your children are only young once so you have to make the most of this time and I may even learn some Tiktok skills to vlog the whole thing! 

I couldnt have planned this trip without home exchange as the cost would have been prohibitive but now the only cost is car hire and flights. I have been blown away but the positive and quick replies I got from fellow home exhangers and one tip I would give to fellow members is to give some personal insight into the what and the why of your trip. Ultimately this site is about community and helping others so the more you explain the more people feel a connection.
