Our dream trip to the 2026 Winter Olympics through a home exchange

A house in the mountains and a warm host

Our first Home Exchange was in the Cortina area. From there, we were able to easily access the Olympic events in Cortina as well as ski at many of the Dolomiti Superski mountains, including Cortina. The Dolomites are absolutely breathtaking! 

We had some of our best ski days this season and completed the famous Sellaronda!  One of our trip highlights was our incredible dinner at the Hotel de la Poste in Cortina. TEAM USA was staying at this hotel so we got to see Breezy Johnson right after her gold medal win that day! We enjoyed coming home to our Home Exchange after a long day in the mountains and drinking a glass of Italian wine in front of the fire. Our host was so sweet to welcome us with Italian pastries and give us many local recommendations in the town to explore.  

A place hotels can't offer

Our second Home Exchange was in the Livigno/Bormio area. Our Home Exchange was in the mountains with a spectacular view of the Italian Alps! Our host welcomed us with fresh eggs from their chicken coop, Italian wine and parmesan cheese. Again, we were able to easily access the Olympic events. We spent two days in Livigno and saw the women’s and men’s halfpipe finals. We also had the opportunity to drive across the border to ski at St. Moritz. All in all, a once in a lifetime trip thanks to Home Exchange! Grazie mille!
