In spring, Marta and her partner traveled from Spain all the way to Los Angeles, CA during a long three month vacation. While there, they experienced a hospitality exchange and got to know their host just as well as they got to know the city they were exploring. She was nice enough to share her story of her travels and her budding friendship with her host with us.

We cohabitated with the owner and we ended up becoming friends and meeting some of his friends and relatives. He made our experience better than if we had just stayed at his place alone!
And the house was amazing, everything we needed and more!
What did you appreciate most about your exchange partner?
Good communication. We became friends. He cooked for us the first night and we had a really good conversation. And from there we hung out together, sometimes with his friends and family. He is very interesting and we talked about a lot of amazing topics!
What did you see or do during your exchange?
We traveled around for 3 months. Once we settled down in LA, we were lucky enough to stay at Jordan's place and share his home with him. :) That made our experience! Thanks to your amazing app we had the chance to travel for so long!
I think my favorite moment of the trip is everytime we met new people and talked to them. We learned a lot and met lots of interesting people here!
And of course, every spot we've been to in the U.S. is stunning! Everything is massive compared to Barcelona!

Our first guests left us some wine and pastries. Since that moment, I started relying on this app (at the beginning, we had some doubts about letting people stay at our place).
What would you say to your friends and family who are considering HomeExchange?
That it is very safe. While you are letting people stay at your place during an exchange, you'll both take care of each other's houses as they were your own. It's not like renting your apartment on a random app with random people. You feel like family with HomeExchange!
What tips and tricks would you give to new HomeExchangers?
Just relax and start discovering the world!
