At HomeExchange, we like to give a voice to those who can best describe it: our members. This testimonial was written by Aurelie, Candice and Duccio, members who used HomeExchange to plan solo travel and meet amazing people.
How does HomeExchange work?Aurelie testimony, one message one yes
Best life, as my daughter told me. This week, I went to Cornwall, solo, a bit on a whim, but I'd spotted a really unique house there and the ferry fares were unbeatable.
1 message 1 yes, high expectations for this destination, and well... I was blown away, the landscapes are magnificent, my stomach was full, between the Cornish cream vanilla ice cream and flakes and the fish and chips, my hands were full too, I was gripping the steering wheel so tightly at times, you have to know that it's like in Devon, on the secondary roads, often only one car can pass at a time. I had a few close calls driving through flooded roads or sections with a 17% gradient, passing pheasants, peacocks, and cows calmly grazing on the side of the road, but a bit on the heavy side, and still I'm delighted with my week !
I recommend you consider this destination, except in the high season, summer. No cleaning fees, no linen or heating fees, everything I need for cooking and washing, a charming hostess and her dog, what can more I possibly want ?
Candice testimony, a month and a half around La Réunion
I spent a month and a half backpacking in Réunion. I did about ten home exchanges through HomeExchange, staying approximately two to five days in each accommodation. I alternated between a private room in someone's home and a small annex next to their house.
Whether it was one or the other, I received a warm welcome every time. Since I traveled alone, it allowed me to meet and interact with locals. Without HomeExchange, I never would have been able to afford such a trip.
It was an amazing adventure!
Duccio testimony, HomeEchange allows me to live my digital nomad dream
As a digital nomad who enjoys returning to the same locations, I found that HomeExchange allows me to live the dream. I am a tax resident in the uk, however, I spend up to 6 months in Spain, and for business and leisure reasons, I try and spend each year 2-3 months in London and 2-3 months in Cagnes sur Mer.
In London, I spend summer each year at Monique space, my exchange with her starts when she leaves London and terminates when she comes back to London. We became friends and normally we meet in person at her place once she is back in London and I am staying at a different exchange.
In Cagnes Sur Mer, I have lost count of how many exchanges I have had with Jean Pierre, we regularly communicate over the course of the year and we found we have common interests and we shared a meal together once when I was in the region staying at a different exchange. With both of them, we built a relationship of friendship, and the arrangement we have worked extremely well for both of us. The only time we have to negotiate is when they lower the GPs too much and I always feel indebted for their generosity. I would love to have a similar arrangement with someone who could stay at my place in Spain when I travel.
Going back to being a digital nomad, I think that HE is still not as popular as it could be with digital nomads like me who retain a residence.
