At HomeExchange, we love giving a voice to those who can best describe it: our members. This testimonial was written by René and Myriam, a septuagenarian couple who, thanks to HomeExchange, have been traveling the world by exchanging homes for 9 years.
9 years ago, opening the windows of our new apartment facing the sea, one thought united us: such a view is too beautiful not to be shared. On the advice of friends, we joined the HomeExchange adventure (then called Guest to Guest), without imagining the extent it would take in our lives.

Today, the numbers confirm our choice to join the platform, but it is above all the memories that carry us:
We hosted: 110 exchanges, nearly 300 people welcomed for 500 nights.
We were hosted: 90 exchanges and 450 nights traveling the world.
Thanks to this mutual trust, we explored Europe, crossed the Atlantic to Canada, Guadeloupe, or Martinique, and finally fulfilled a 20-year-old dream: discovering the wild nature of Costa Rica. Not to mention the treasures of our France, which we continue to explore and where, next June, we will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary in Corsica.

The richness of connections
At over 70 years old, we do not hide that it requires energy. The hours spent searching and the care taken in preparing the apartment can be tiring. But what satisfaction! More than “guests,” we met wonderful people with whom, for some, we keep in touch throughout the year. Some return for the 8th time. We have watched children grow up; we have welcomed expectant mothers whose children, now aged 6, exclaim upon arrival that they are back in “their seaside house,” thrilled to find their shovel and net again.
We could never have lived these adventures without all of you, coming from all over Europe, Canada, or Costa Rica. To you who opened your doors to us or who crossed ours: a huge thank you. You are part of our story.
