You look onto a meadow and a lake. The play of colours from the sun, wind and weather paints new pictures several times a day. Relaxing! Individual, comfortable house on the Schelde dyke, ideal for cyclists, anglers & water sports enthusiasts. Antwerp, Ghent & beaches approx. 30 min. away. "Othene", directly on a small lake, an ideal base for all kinds of excursions: to the cultural cities of Belgium or to the sea. The house has many amenities (fireplace, fitted kitchen, 2nd WC, partly underfloor heating) and is perfect for relaxing. On the ground floor there is a living room, a fireplace, a sunny garden room, a bathroom, a guest toilet and the kitchen. Under the roof is an open bedroom (double bed, 160cm wide) with large writing desk and a small bedroom (2 single beds). The outdoor area merges into a large lawn, perfect for sunbathing or playing (ball) games. Our terrace invites you to relax with a large wooden lounge group. In the garden house, a small barbecue, a large fire bowl and various old-fashioned bikes are waiting. Since we are in our cottage ourselves whenever possible, you will find many personal and carefully selected items here: grandma's crockery, vintage armchairs, cosy reading corners. In the small kitchen we like to cook extensively.

Othene is the oldest part of a modern small city. It used to be a place for fishermen, farmers, craftsmen. Today it's still a relaxed place for the longtime inhabitants but as well a searched neighborhood for young families. New houses are built around canals and parklike areas. It's perfect for biking - 2 minutes to supermarket and bakery, 5 minutes to the dike along the Schelde river, 10 minutes to the city center of Terneuzen, where the "Flying Dutchman" is supposed to come from. If you've got a car it will be 30 minutes to Bruges, Antwerpen, Gent and the beaches of Walcheren Island.

As this is our 2nd home, there are some relevant things: - minimum stay is 3 nights - a cleaning fee of 55 € (75€ if you bring your dog or cat) is applicable - please bring your own bedclothes and towels Please note: We deliberately decided to have no internet/WiFi in the cottage, this is our place for digital detox. The kitchen is about 2,50 meters long, just big enough for two people working closely together. But fully equipped with gas cooker, oven, microwave, dishwasher, Nespresso & regular coffee machine etc. A room with a fireplace. But...you really have to be familiar with using a fireplace. Otherwise please don't for your own sake. Two bathrooms, one with a shower to prevent "sanitary rush hours" And... a lot of partly old but personal stuff - to be handled with care :-)
