Vad du kommer att gilla med hemmet

We live in an old spacious schoolbuilding located in a quiet area about a kilometer from the historical center of Middelburg. The schoolbuilding is split into six houses. Our part has it's own private entrance and large private garden. We mainly live on the ground floor where you'll find our living area, a tv room, master bedroom with double bed, a teenage bedroom with double bed, a bathroom (with two showers, a toilet and a bath), a separate toilet at the other end of the house and a place for toys and creativity. The living area is as big as a classroom and has open connection with the playarea. It has a large fully equiped kitchen, dining table and sofa to chill on. Opening the door at the back you'll enter our private garden. You can use the BBQ, make a little fire and burn marshmellows, use the pool (3 meters wide and only available during summer), jump on the trampoline or just enjoy reading a good book in the hammock. If you'd like to explore the surroundings, please use the bikes which are waiting for you (three adultbikes, a teenage bike and a bike for a 7 year old). If necessary we can easily arrange more bikes or children seats. In the shed you'll find outdoor games and stuff to play with for the children. During the last few years we have been busy making the schoolbuilding our home. We take it step by step so please notice: the main part of the house is finished and it's a joy to live in with lots of space and light. Lots of space means also that it is quite a job to get is finished, so not all is done yet. On the first floor you’ll find two sleepingrooms. Both have two more single beds and lots of Lego and other toys to play with. Next to the bedrooms we realized a second bathroom with toilet and shower. On the first floor you'll also find a home office as my husband likes to call it the "man cave". Besides two desks it has a dartboard. ;-)

Middelburg is a cosy town, well known for it's historical centre, with a lot of nice restaurants and shops. We have museums in and around Middelburg which can be reached by bike and are worth visiting. Middelburg is situated very close to the North Sea. The dune coast has many beautifull sandbeaches (10-15 min by car) or 25 minutes by bike. Our region is the sunniest part of the Netherlands. We have more sunhours than the rest of the Netherlands. The Oosterschelde and Veerse Meer are also close to Middelburg (ca. 10km) offer plenty possibilities for watersports. If you love nature you can have a walk in one of the parks in walking distance from our house. The Toorenvliedt park has a rich history which dates from World War II and has quite a few bunkers. If you love the forrest, you should visit Oostkapelle where you come face to face with deers (if you're lucky). You might want to visit the castle Westhove from 1277, which is quite near. Middelburg railway station is only a 19 minutes walk (or 7 minutes by bike) from our house and has a frequent direct train link with Amsterdam, Amsterdam Airport, Rotterdam, Delft and The Hague. Within cycling distance there is the seaside town of Vlissingen with more historic buildings, maritime museum, beaches, marina, port and WWII Atlantic Wall defense works. Don't forget to visit Veere north of Middelburg. A small village which is even more historical than Middelburg. Vlissingen, Middelburg and Veere have lots of cultural activities during the summer months. There is a network of miles and miles of special bicycle lanes in every direction. And you're free to use our bikes. The rest of the island of Walcheren (where Middelburg is on) has authentic farming villages, dunes and lots of beaches. The ages' long battle of the Dutch with the sea can be understood when visiting the massive flood barrier in the Oosterschelde and the watersnood (1953 flood distaster) museum. A ferry boat ride from Vlissingen across the Westerschelde takes you to Zeeuws Vlaanderen, from where you can visit the Belgian province of Flanders with beautifull old cities of Brugge, Gent and Antwerp. We love to do a reciprocal exchange, rather than Guest Points, but are open to any kind of request. We would even consider long term exchange or the possibility to use your campervan for example. Tempt us! We prefer exchanges for 3 nights minimum. Due to allergies we can’t exchange with houses that have cats or dogs living inside or houses that have a not so high standard of vacuuming. ;-) Our area is perfect for biking, hiking, surfing and sailing! We have clean and wunderfull beaches! Would you rather stay at our home? Our vegetable garden invites you to eat from it. The pool invites you to have a swim or maybe you'd like to roast marsmellows on the campfire? We live in an old schoolbuilding which was split into 6 private accommodations. The garden in the middle is still communal and shared which lovely neighbours and their children. Every now and then we eat together, drink a tea, have a chat. If you feel like it, you're welcome to use the communal garden. You can feel like a local, meeting our helpfull neighbours. If you're rather on your own, please enjoy our spacious private garden. As much as we share time with the neigbours, we all respect eachothers privacy, so don't feel obliged. Note: the reviews from 2015 and before that are from our old house. In 2016 we moved to the schoolbuilding just around the corner.
