Moonstone Heights Family Home – Spacious, Redwoods, Goldfish Ponds, Waterfalls, Gardens, Tea House, Art Studio, Close to gorgeous Moonstone Beach! A Custom, hand-built home with Japanese-inspired décor and many unusual features. Perfect for a large, quiet, family (Maximum occupancy permitted is 6.) 3bdm, 2.5 Baths (one functional tub), Living Room, Family Room, Large Art Studio, Decks, Hot Tub, fifteen to 20 minute steep walk or few minute drive to Moonstone Beach. New, full solar system! First floor has a separate dining room with a working piano from 1889, a cozy kitchen with Wolf range, living room with pull-out futon and satellite TV, and high-end woodstove (firewood not provided). Decks and private gardens that feature one hundred Japanese maples and rare specimen plants all around. Front deck has outdoor dining with gas grill. Upstairs has plenty of room to spread out: The Master Suite has sliding glass doors onto step-out balconies for an ocean peek, a King Bed, and a Full Bath. The 2nd floor Art Studio space is stocked with kid’s art supplies for creative family fun. The second bedroom has a desk and queen bed. The 'kids" bedroom has a full bed and a twin bed, along with the fun loft space holding books, toys, and sleeping bags on twin floor pads for the kids. And then the Master Suite has a third floor “Mermaids Loft:" a comfy mini-library with books, cozy sofa, and stools looking out over an Ocean View. Maybe you’ll spot a mermaid! The additional upstairs bathroom has elegant redwood accents, full tiled tub, and a magical view of the private gardens. Outside there is a Japanese tea house (aka “Zen Den”) overlooking the serene goldfish ponds as an additional relaxation, conversation, or meditation space, electric tea kettle. The large hot tub is so nice to relax in after being down at the beach or hiking in the Redwoods (Redwood National Park is 20 minutes or so north). The front of the house features a majestic ancient Redwood wider than your car, the oldest one in the area! The garage space has been converted into a makeshift kid's game room with a foosball table, and a couch. This home is located less than 5 minutes off Highway 101 on a dead end road in a quiet, rural neighborhood, a great central place for exploring Humboldt County and the Redwoods! [PLEASE NOTE: This home is best suited to families seeking peaceful, quiet enjoyment. Loud music is discouraged at any time, so instead plan to enjoy the birdsongs and wind in the treetops! Moonstone House “quiet voices” hours start at 9pm. With plenty of wonderful beaches, hiking, and the state Park nearby, you can have a great time without much car time. However, everyone loves to go to Prairie Creek Redwoods National & State Park, about 20 mins north. The park has 100 miles of incredible Redwood hikes--check out Fern Canyon, Lady Bird Johnson Grove, Big Trees, the Cork Screw Trees, and Big Tree! The Humboldt Lagoons are another destination--include it on your Redwoods day trip or do it separately for fishing, hiking, beach combing, bird watching, kayak and paddle board renting. After your redwood adventures, breathe a sigh of contentment as you settle back in to the tranquility of Moonstone House, to rest and renew with your loved ones. Please note: We understand that Moonstone Beach is a popular wedding location, however please do not book this house for any wedding celebration purpose. Even while observing the vehicle limit, we’ve still had problems with guests chauffeuring wedding party members back and forth to the beach from this house, which causes too much noise and extra traffic on the very small, unpaved road. Moonstone House is to be used strictly as a single family residence normally would be. Additionally, the non-smoking status of the house must also be observed in the front driveway and First Street areas, so that second-hand smoke smells are not experienced by the many close neighbors.
