Our home rests upon a beautiful bluff, high above the Pacific Ocean in the village of Mendocino, California - three and a half (3.5) hours North of San Francisco. We have three (3) bedrooms and two (2) bathrooms along with a well equipped kitchen and a cozy living room that overlooks the gorgeous bay below. Our deck provides an opportunity to be outdoors and enjoy the sound of the waves crashing on the cliffs below as a variety of birds soar above. The upstairs bedroom has sweeping views across the bay and over the headlands/bluff to the Pacific Ocean.
Our original home was purchased in 1948 by Our Great Aunt Betty for $1200.00 and a vacant piece of land. That home was built in the 1860'S and its only foundation was laid on huge redwood piers. As our old and decrepit house was sinking into an adjacent ravine - total replacement was our family's only option. Our Mother - Louise Ditto - whose artwork is displayed throughtout our home, replaced the entire home in '83/'84, saving only the original structure's kitchen ceiling. Much effort was spent building a home that represented the character of the town when our original home was built.

Fishing, hiking and a local train are available for days upon days of exploring and adventure. Wonderful shops and eateries are just a short walk away in our quaint village. An incredible Art Center that provides year around classes and multi media art available for purchase is a large attraction along our scenic coastline.

We are Truly SORRY to report that we are no longer having Pets in COLLIN’S COTTAGE. We have experienced TOO MUCH DAMAGE and can no longer afford the accompanying expenses.
We came to this Painful Decision only after much thought and many FAMILY DISCUSSIONS. We very much regret having had to reach this decision.
Our entire VILLAGE is totally dependent upon Well Water. Due to overused and stressed aquifers we are often required to purchase DELIVERED WATER. Unfortunately the rates have increased from $250 to $800 per Delivery. Due to these
expenses we have had to implement a WATER FEE. The Fee is $ 190 per visit - NOT PER NIGHT. We will bring this Fee to an end at the earliest possible time. ** Our VILLAGE’S Water Situation (DROUGHT) is Quite Serious and Signs are Prominently Posted throughout The VILLAGE. We sincerely appreciate All Guests using Our Water Thoughtfully and Sparingly
