Wat je fantastisch zult vinden in dit huis
Our home has a spacious open plan living area with a fireplace, so is a haven all year. The wide, covered front terrace is perfect for dolphin spotting, watching boat life, the light playing on Stephenson Island and al fresco dining. Use the kayaks to explore the rocky coastline, including Arrow Rocks - at 250 million years old they are older than most parts of New Zealand and of interest to international geologists - hence the moniker of Marble Bay. Northland is a sub tropical climate, which encourages lush growth. Threading through our property is Tauranga Iti stream, a popular water source for early Maori. Included in the native bush of the gully is a Pohutukawa (Christmas Tree) thought to be 800 years old. Marble Bay is part of a Kiwi protection zone administered by the community.
Ten minute drive to Whangaroa Harbour deep sea marina, where you can watch game fish being weighed as the sun sets.
Local walks include Dukes Nose, Lane Cove and Mahineapua Peninsular (see www.DOC.govt.nz). Fantastic views of Whangaroa Harbour from St Pauls (see www.NorthlandNZ.com).
De leukste plekjes bij ons in de buurt
Our house is 30 minutes from Kerikeri, the gateway to the world renowned Bay of Islands. 40 minutes north is historic Mangonui, a perfectly preserved harbour enclave with many restaurants and local, high quality, craft shops. Butler Point is well worth a visit as a privately developed museum of the early whaling days, with a historic home.
Whangaroa Harbour was first established as a deep sea fishing port in the time of Zane Grey (American adventure novelist). Experienced Charter boats can be hired with a high chance of a catch. Can also be arranged to visit Cavalli Islands, for diving on the wreck of the Rainbow Warrior, the Greenpeace vessel cavalierly bombed by the French in 1985 in anticipation of their trip to protest against nuclear testing on Moruroa Atoll.
