De leukste plekjes bij ons in de buurt

We are located on a cul-de-sac in a safe central Davis residential neighborhood. Our neighbors are a mix of young families, empty-nesters, and retired seniors. We are within walking and bicycling distance of downtown Davis, the AMTRAK train station, the U.C. Davis campus, the year-round Davis Farmers' Market, and two fine grocery stores - including a large natural food co-op. Davis is a safe, family-friendly university town located in the Sacramento Valley of northern California, 15 miles west of Sacramento and 75 miles east of San Francisco. It is connected to San Francisco and Oakland International Airports by train - BART, and AMTRAK. In addition, Sacramento International Airport is only 25 minutes away by car and is accessible by local bus and private shuttle. Davis, with a population of about 65,000, has more bicycles than vehicles and has a platinum designation as a bike-friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists. Davis is the home of the University of California land-grant campus, UC Davis. We are known for our small-town atmosphere, bicycle lanes and paths, public art, greenbelts and parks, nationally recognized farmers' market, Monetti Shrem Museum of Art, Mondavi Center for Performing Arts, and U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame. From mid-June to mid-September, the town is particularly mellow as most of the university students return home or take summer jobs elsewhere. Davis is surrounded by farms and ranches and other fun small cities (Winters and Woodland) in a very productive agricultural region noted for its organic farms and farm-to-fork movement. It has a vibrant downtown with many shops, movie theaters, art galleries and cooperatives, coffee shops, and a good variety of restaurants. Davis and other small cities in our county (Winters, Woodland) have several wonderful craft breweries and excellent, award-winning wineries. Wildlife viewing, nature walks, and hiking are nearby: Yolo Basin Wildlife Area, UC Davis Putah Creek Riparian Reserve, City of Davis South Fork Preserve, Winters Putah Creek Nature Park, and Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve. Sacramento, only 15 minutes away, is a larger city and the State Capitol. There is a historic Gold Rush "old town," the State Train Museum, California Museum, Crocker Art Museum, and a very lively Midtown with beautiful old homes, shops, clubs, art galleries, theaters, and restaurants. For sports fans, the Kings play basketball at the Golden 1 Center in downtown Sac, there is a great minor-league baseball stadium in West Sac (Rivercats), and there is a USL Soccer team, Sacramento Republic FC. Davis is also a great central location to explore northern California. It is within easy driving distance of Lake Berryessa (30 minutes); Berkeley/Oakland (45 minutes) and San Francisco (1 hour); Clear Lake and Wilbur Hot Springs (1.5 hours); the famous wine regions of the Napa and Sonoma valleys/counties and the El Dorado and Amador county Sierra Nevada foothills (1-2 hours); Lake Tahoe (2 hours); the beautiful northern California Coast of Marin, Sonoma, and Mendocino counties (2-4 hours); and Yosemite National Park, Santa Cruz/Monterey/Carmel/Big Sur, and Mt. Shasta or Ashland, Oregon (about 3-5 hours). AMTRAK trains connect Davis to the San Francisco Bay Area (Capitol Corridor), the Sierra Nevada Mountains (Zephyr), and central and southern California and points north in Oregon and Washington (Coast Starlight).
