What you will love about this home
Our apartment is located in a modern oceanfront condominium situated next to the famous Hotel Del Coronado. In the lead photo, it is in the building to the extreme left, sitting right on the Pacific Ocean. On the other side you can .see Glorietta Bay, Coronado's fabulous public golf course and San Diego Bay connecting Coronado to San Diego via the Coronado Bay Bridge. It is on the seventh floor with a great view of the hotel and the San Diego skyline. The apartment is 780 square feet a one bedroom.
The apartment is in good decorative order with newer furnishings including top-of-the-line king bed, flat screen Sony TV, cable and Internet.
The overall decor is very serene and comfortable in tones of off-white and beige, mauve and touches of sea green, punctuated by the carefully selected art work and accessories. The dramatic gallery entrance, adjoining pass-through kitchen and bath are diagonally tiled in off-white ceramic and the living/dining and sleeping areas are in plush light beige carpet. The living/dining walls are mirrored floor to ceiling enhancing the view and there is a step-out balcony from the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors. There is a large walk-in closet off the sleeping area and an underground garage space is included. The apartment is perfect for singles or couples. Guests have access to a multitude of amenities in this resort complex, including the use of eight tennis courts, four oceanfront swimming pools, two of which are heated, numerous oceanfront Jaccuzzis, a staffed fitness center, and two oceanfront club houses with social activities. The complex is gated and each building has a 24 hour doorman and very helpful staff.
What you will love about this neighborhood
Coronado Island is called the "Crown City" of Southern California and for good reason, as it is one of the jewels of the Pacific Ocean, sitting on what was voted by travel experts to be the finest family beach in America and one of the finest in the world. It was here that the Prince Edward of Wales first met the future Duchess of Windsor, that Marilyn Monroe filmed "Some Like it Hot", and that presidents, potentates, celebrities and luxury lovers continue to visit year in and year out. If you arrive at the San Diego Airport it is very easy to rent a car from that location. Coronado is but a 15 to 20 minute drive along the beautiful San Diego harbor and across the eliptical Coronado Bay Bridge. When you reach the top of the bridge, the "Emerald Isle" as we call it, is revealed in all its splendor, as your eye travels from the emerald green Coronado golf course (a public course) to the yachts in Glorietta Bay, to the red-turreted Hotel Del Coronado, the inspiration for the city of Oz in "The Wizard of Oz", and beyond to the Pacific Ocean and Point Loma, where glorious sunsets occur every evening. We never fail to be inspired by this view as we approach our island home. Coronado itself boasts many of the best restaurants in the whole San Diego area, two live theaters, and many other delights. From one end of the island you can cross the bay by inexpensive ferry to the San Diego harbor without even having to use a car if you choose. But, with a car, San Diego offers a multitude of additional attractions including the renouned San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Balboa Park with its art galleries and museums, Old Town, the Gas Lamp district, various harbor cruises and yacht charters, the Tijuana Trolly to bull fights in nearby Mexico, Little Italy, the La Jolla and Del Mar beaches, and the list goes on and on. Los Angeles and all its attractions is only a two and a half hour drive. But you can have a wonderful relaxed vacation on Coronado Island alone without resort to an automobile if you so choose and still see the major sights via ferry and public transportation options.
