We love to be away at Christmas and New Years and are interested in either an exchange or a stay in your place for Guest Points - we have a lot of them! Willing to fly to Europe or anywhere in the USA (including Alaska and Hawaii). We are open to other places as well. We are always looking for new places to experience!
If you are looking for somewhere warmish at Christmas and New Years please contact us!
See our calendar for our vacation dates.
Guest Point stays in our home must be for a minimum of 2 weeks.
We have completed 16 exchanges in 15 years. We have hosted others in our home and also had people in our home for Guest Points when we were elsewhere.
We own an 1800 square foot (172 sq. meters) single story home on a quiet street, in a friendly and safe neighborhood in Long Beach, California, just 10 minutes from some of the best beaches in southern California!
Our home is casual, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need.
We have 3 bedrooms - master bedroom sleeps 2, second bedroom sleeps 2, third bedroom sleeps 2, plus a sleeper sofa in the spare room that sleeps 2. Two bathrooms; one with a shower and one with a shower/tub. Fully equipped kitchen with Nespresso machine, super quiet Bosch dishwasher, regular coffee maker, professional mixer, double convection oven and lots of other cooking/baking toys. Wi-Fi throughout the house, 55 inch big screen smart TV with 1000+ channels, streaming tv and movies, 1 bike, and great neighbors who will be happy to help you out and answer any questions you have.
We have a fairly large backyard (by LA standards) with an outdoor dining area, swing, and fire pit for the evenings. Pick fruit from our trees!
Our immediate neighborhood, known as Los Altos (not to be confused with the city by the same name in northern California) is made up of 1950's ranch-style homes that have almost all been renovated and expanded over the years - family neighborhood. Los Altos is in the city of Long Beach, on the southernmost coastal edge of Los Angeles county. It is 15-20 miles from downtown LA. Orange County is 1 mile away.
We have every convenience in our neighborhood - both gourmet and organic grocery stores, farmer's markets, book stores, convenience stores, day spas, small and large parks, restaurants and more, all within a 3 - 5 minute drive of our house.
The Long Beach Airport is 10 minutes away for easy flights if you want to go away for a long weekend - San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, Las Vegas, Hawaii, and many other major are all served by this airport. El Dorado regional park, just 2 minutes away by car or 10 minutes by bike, offers golf, tennis, archery, ultimate frisbee, bike paths, baseball, a nature center, library, and playgrounds for the kids.
Other neighborhoods nearby have different flavors. Belmont Shore, 10 minutes away, is a small, beach community with a lively shopping street filled with great shops and restaurants. Alamitos Bay offers kayaking, SUP, sailing, swimming, and even a gondola ride through the canals of Naples Island - amazing waterfront restaurants! The East Village Arts District, just down the shore from Belmont, has many coffee houses, cafes, galleries and one-of-a-kind shops. Seal Beach, 10 minutes in the other direction, is another small beach town that has a wonderful, casual feel with some of our favorite restaurants lining a great shopping street ending at the pier and a great beach for surfing and boogie boarding. Downtown Long Beach, with it's own arts/club/theater district, is a somewhat bohemian, eclectic, urban area with lots of unique shops and restaurants. You can visit the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Queen Mary, or hop on a ship for a 3, 4 or 7 day cruise to Mexico or visit Catalina Island!
Beach bikeways provide miles of riding options along most of the coastline - there is nothing like a Sunday morning ride along the beach, popping in to the weekly farmers market, stopping for coffee and breakfast along the way at one of the cafes right on the sand.
Many outdoor activities are available nearby...sailing, swimming, rowing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, kitesurfing, windsurfing, surfing, boogie and skimboarding...you can be outside all the time here!

Our house cleaner will come, at our expense, before and after your stay so you don't have to clean the house before you leave and can enjoy yourself until the last minute! If you stay for 3 weeks or longer, we will also pay her to come every two weeks during the exchange so you don't have to worry about cleaning the house while you are on vacation! We will leave instructions about how to prepare the house for her to do her job.
