What you will love about this neighborhood
Cork, the 3rd best city in the world to visit according to Lonely Planet is situated on the beautiful south coast of Ireland.
Cork is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a population of over 123,000 people yet it still manages to retain the pleasant charm and friendliness of a country town. The surrounding country is also lush and extraordinarily beautiful, with well known destinations such as Blarney and Kinsale just a short drive from the City. Cork County boasts a magnificent coastline scooped and fretted by the Atlantic into great bays and secret coves, strewn with rocky headlands and long soft golden sands. It is the most popular tourism area in Ireland outside Dublin.
Our home is very convenient for great walks, pristine beaches, scenic countryside or for touring west Cork, Kerry and the Lakes of Killarney.. We are within easy reach of many championship golf courses in the area such as Fota & Old Head of Kinsale. Cork is a great base for exploring the south and west of Ireland. West Cork and Kerry are approximately 1 and a half hour west and Galway is 3 hours north-west of Cork. In the opposite direction, Waterford is 1 hour and Wexford is less than 2 hours from Cork. Dublin is an easy 3 hour drive from our home.
Cork is the 'gourmet' capital of Ireland with many fine restaurants. The victorian "English Market" in the city centre is an epicurian's delight selling Ireland's finest food.
Cork is also a paradise for golfers, sailing enthusiasts and walkers with every amenity on its doorstep.
Our home is 15 minutes away from beaches and wonderful scenery. There are many beautiful places to see near our home - the Lee Valley, Kinsale, Cobh, the Famous Blarney Castle where legend says if you kiss the blarney stone you will have the gift of eloquent speech forever! Within one hour's drive from our home are the wonderful mountains, villages and towns of West Cork Below is a link for tourism in Cork and Kerry.
We are a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk to the local village of Douglas which has supermarkets, restaurants, bars etc.
