Our home possesses classic Arts and Crafts era charm. The grounds are unique, with fruit trees galore (fuji apples, fuyu persimmons, navel and Valencia oranges, figs, Meyer lemons, tangerines). A rustic brick patio with outdoor fireplace and sitting area inspire frequent entertaining throughout the year. A front desert garden supplies a jaunty, Southern California curb appeal. Enclosed 10,000 sq. ft. back yard great for children. We love sitting on the front porch in the evenings, watching the sunsets and chatting with neighbors. Two bedrooms have queen beds (the master bedroom opens onto the patio). The third bedroom is a study. The garage is used as an office, with heat and air-conditioning and also has a queen size sofa bed (lumpy, but usable!) We have a washer and dryer, wireless internet, and a smart HD television with more channels than you'll every watch.
Note that we have a dog and a cat who need care. They are easy, and great companions and they love children.
Public transportation is just two blocks away, with bus access to downtown Pasadena and our Gold Line light rail system, which takes you to downtown Los Angeles in 30 minutes. Driving time is approximately 20 minutes, and another 30 minutes to Santa Monica beach and pier. Mountain skiing is 90 minutes away, Disneyland is less than 60, and Universal Studios can be reached in 20 minutes. We are less than ten ten minutes away (also accessible by bus) to several wonderful hiking trails into the local San Gabriel mountains. Public tennis courts are three blocks away, and the Rose Bowl Aquatic center is a ten-minute drive. We are close to the best of Pasadena cultural life: the Norton Simon Museum (one of
the great museums of the world in our opinion), the Huntington Library and Gardens, the USC Asia-Pacific Museum, Ambassador Auditorium, the Rose Bowl, the historic Pasadena Playhouse, and Old Pasadena with its many fabulous restaurants, movie theaters and shops.
Friendly neighbors, quiet residential streets, lots of trees, great for walking, markets, coffee shops, bakeries nearby. Hiking in the beautiful, rugged San Gabriel Mountains is an 8 minute drive. Our local park has tennis, handball, exercise equipment, a playground and lots of grass and trees. Great public transportation, although first time visitors to the Los Angeles area should be alerted that it is a driving town, and your life will be much simpler with a car. (Talk to us about using ours if it is available).
We do have a dog and a cat. often the dog Anya travels with us, but she might need your care. She is mellow and patient. The same can be said for Katya, who is a neighborhood favorite. (She does have a curfew, however. We bring her in at dusk.)
