What you will love about this home

Please read! We are only accepting home exchanges at this time and will not be taking points until further notice. Thank you for your understanding. Our Custom built family home is tucked into one of the most desirable neighbourhoods and villages in British Columbia. Our home boasts forest and mountain views for adventurers and nature lovers alike. Backing onto the forested school area, the setting gives much privacy. Our south facing backyard has a generous patio and deck. Sit back in our adirondack chairs or comfy patio furniture and enjoy our self watering yard and garden. Grab a beer from the mini fridge and head through our backyard gate to play a round of disk golf in the school’s forbidden forest. The inside of the house is modern and bright and is decorated with contemporary and comfortable furniture. Massive windows throughout the house let in so much beautiful light. The house features 9 foot ceilings throughout and has a vaulted living room that boasts 28 ft ceilings. Although grand, it feels cozy when your tucked up next to our gas fire place. Additionally if you’d rather sit by the fire outside we have a natural gas hookup for a fire ring next to the patio furniture. Granite counters and gas range accompany our modern kitchen. Features a breakfast bar and large dining area that seat 8. Garberatur, ice maker and large fridge, freezer and even an espresso machine to get you fed and out the door. Our kitchen is an actual dream to cook in and we love spending time here with our friends and family. The main floor of the house plays out like a rancher. Upon entering from our covered porch, you’ll flow from the front door entry into the living area that opens to the kitchen and patio. Head back through the entry way and you’ll pass our home gym, equip with Peloton, free weights and a stretching area. A little further down the hall and you’ll pass the powder room on the way to the main level laundry and boot room. Featuring Cumberland crates and a unique ladder drying rack, you’ll find this super handy when coming back from a day of adventuring. Access to the double car garage/ or mostly bike storage at this point/, is right off the laundry mud room. Back through the laundry room takes you to the impressive main bedroom. It hosts a soaker tub and glass shower with double sinks. Large main bedroom has gorgeous large windows that face the south facing backyard. The bedroom even has patio access, making star gazing easy. Head upstairs to the kid zone where you’ll find 3 more bedrooms, an entertainment room and large bathroom with tub shower and double sinks. The bonus space above the garage has been converted to a kid hang out area and even features a hammock zone. This area can also double as an additional bedroom. Our neices and nephews love to unwind here after a big day outdoors. We know you’ll be comfortable and well equipped to head out on adventures from our little peice of paradise.We can’t wait for you to enjoy Cumberland.

What you will love about this neighborhood

“Welcome to Legendary Cumberland.” The slogan that has intrigued a province if not a nation. Perhaps the legend has even reached you, in another part of the world. The stories are all true, in case you're wondering, but I encourage you to come and explore the tales and trails yourself. Old Cumberland is coal mines and logging saturated with a dark labour history, this town has much to offer the history buff with an updated museum, trail network with signage and plenty of town landmarks to explore and read up on. All of these offerings are right downtown, a 6 min walk from our door. Heading into the forest to look into Cumberland's past and future is a mere 7 min walk away. The China Park historical walk, 15 min walk away, ends with disc golf! I’m not sure how many history walks include disk golf, but I share this to show the pure quirkyness of our Village. Be sure not to miss Japan town, and take a walk or run bike to fully enjoy this perfect picnic spot. New Cumberland is mountain biking and microbreweries, pub nights, artists and legends. Some of the islands greatest tales start or end at our local pubs. Ask anyone, not just our bias, the best dinning in the Comox Valley, feeds the bellies of many tired and satisfied adventures here. All of these yummy tacos, coffees and beers are a 6 min walk away. We know you'll love the ability to be so full and satisfied, and simply stumble back home to loosen your belt in our beautiful home. Our beautiful home backs onto green space, and behind that the local school field, that offers the ability to fly a kite or take a stroll to the playground to unwind the kids. The green space behind our house has a mini pump track built by the neighbours, and mini disc golf course for all ages to enjoy. We literally have trails in our backyard. The fun isn’t limited to the myriad of technical trails that we have at our doorstep( 175 km of mountain bike trails), the Comox Lake and recreation site is a 7 min drive away or a 15 min bike ride. Take a dip in our fridged glacier water and practice your Win Hof method. Or act like a kid again and swim like you're in the South Pacific. The lake offers boating, stand up paddle boarding, fire rings and some beautiful hiking and amazing rock climbing. Our closest ocean swimming beach is Gartley Beach, near Royston. It will only take about 10 min to drive for a salty soak. The water is the warmest we've found in our area, be sure to hit it at high tide to meet all the locals. We are located on an island so a beautiful beach is never too far. Other favorite local beaches are Goose Spit, Saratoga Beach and Kin Beach. As for Cumberland amenities, we have them all, just on a smaller scale. You can often find all the locals pedalling around town with their 'Grocery Getters', coming home from the local grocery or farmer’s market. If you need more then what our pint sized town has to offer, the big box stores of Courtenay and Comox are a 10 min drive away. Speaking of Comox and Courtenay, they are spectacular and amazing and the adventures, shopping, food options are endless. The Comox Valley is truly spectacular and we are grateful for this beautiful community and neighbourhood. Cumberland proves to be the place to be, and is an excellent take off point to visit the valley. Oh and did I mention that we live at the base of the Strathcona Park? A 25 min drive out of town has you at the first chairlift of Mount Washington Resort. The islands Biggest ski hill/ downhill mountain bike park. Endless amounts of fun and adventure for the young and old. Cross country ski/ fat bike/ hike/ or Camp from the Strathcona Nordic Center. Come in the summer and your mouth will be stained from the wild blueberries.


With 175 trails of pure mountain biking bliss, make sure you bring your bike. My husband and I are happy to lend our two grocery getters for you to run errands with, but our mountain bikes are our babies. I'm sure you’ll understand. Ebikes have recently been approved for trail usage. Lots of local shops rent mountain bikes if you arnt able to bring your own. We simply ask that you make a donation to our local bike association United riders of Cumberland if you choose to access the trails. It goes right back to the forest and helps keep this a destination for all to enjoy for years to come. Check out more here:
