What you will love about this home

Our home is a newly remodeled 150-square-meter, three-floor house with four bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and a 2nd-floor terrace with an outstanding view over our Japanese-style garden. It's a 15-minute walk from Place Stanislas in downtown Nancy, but it's also just a short stroll to a huge plateau with loads of forest trails to explore. Nancy is also a great place to use as a travel base since you're only a few hours away from Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Belgium, and Paris is just over an hour away on the high-speed train.

What you will love about this neighborhood

Nancy is a gorgeous city, known for its art nouveau architecture and UNESCO world heritage site Place Stanislas. Our village/suburb of Malzéville has the quiet of a village but with easy access to Nancy.

For guests with children: Our boys each have their own room, which you can see pictured in our photos, and there are plenty of kids toys. Their bookshelf, also pictured, has a full shelf of English books. And they’ve got pop-up books, plastic animals, legos, balls, cars, dinosaurs, costumes, puppets, books on CD, Playmobiles, art supplies, musical instruments and on and on. It’s ridiculous. Then about a two-minute walk from our house is a midsize park with a playground and lots of room to run and play (La Douëra). A 15-minute walk from our house is the pépinière, a giant park with 150-year-old trees, a massive playground, merry-go-round rides, ice cream, puppet shows, a restaurant and a zoo complete with monkeys. There are actually lots of nice parks in town, many of them with kids’ stuff like swings and slides. The Nancy aquarium is also great. It used to be a zoology research center, and they still have an amazing collection of taxidermied animals on the second floor. And there are two indoor children’s recreation areas in town, where they can bounce and climb and slide. Finally, we have some English-speaking friends here with young kids we can hook you up with as well if you’re looking for play dates. That’s Nancy. For day trips outside of Nancy there’s a ton too. The zoo of Amnéville is world-class. There’s an open air wildlife park called Parc Animalier de Sainte-Croix that’s stunning as well. There’s a cool ropes course in my parents-in-law’s village just outside Nancy called l’Avent-Garde that has things for young kids up to adults. There’s lots of forested hiking areas around here too, especially in Les Vosges. There’s a lake an hour drive away that has swimming and boating activities. And there’s Disneyland Paris just down the road if you somehow get bored with all of that.
