What you will love about this home
Just a 1/2 hour from Halifax, Nova Scotia’s capital city; our scenic lakefront cottage is small but comfortable for two. It has one queen bedroom and half bathroom. The outdoor shower with running hot and cold water is a few steps away from the front door and totally private. The large deck faces the lake. Swim “floaties” are in the shed. We have a dock that leads out into the lake, with a swim raft anchored a short distance away. There is no furnace as this is strictly a late spring through fall getaway. Our wood stove does a great job of warming us on cool mornings and lots of hardwood & kindling is supplied for your use, in the shed.
We also spend a great deal of time in our 3 season gazebo listening to the loons, with a propane heater if evenings cool down.
PLEASE NOTE: the outdoor shower is the only shower. None indoors.
Our cottage was built in 1960 so has a few ‘quirks’. For example: fewer than expected electrical outlets; yet lots for the frig, range, toaster, electric, tea kettle, slow cooker, iPhone-iPad charging station and all the normal things. Also, the floor is not 100% level. LOL.
What you will love about this neighborhood
The lake was “settled in early 1960’s with summer cottages built in the lake shores. Because of our short drive either to Halifax or the Annapolis Valley, gradually many of the cottages have become year round homes, so currently the lake is a mix of both seasonal and full time residents. The private road that surrounds the lake is a great walking loop.
Our lake is a clear water, rocky bottom lake. Great for swimming and paddle sports. The pontoon boats outnumber speed boats. There is a wonderful farm garden market in the nearest village a few km away. They sell their own farm raised, grass fed fresh meat as well as fresh veggies, fruits, etc. There are a couple of restaurants, pizza takeout/delivery places, as well as a small grocery store which is also the NS Liquor depot for wine and spirits. . Bedford or Windsor would both be the closest towns for more services and shops.
