What you will love about this home
Welcome to our home away from home! Point Roberts is a 4 square mile peninsula on the US/Canada border surrounded on three sides by ocean and beaches. Forest, cottages and acerages make up the interior. Deer, coyotes, owls, racoons are regular visitors to our property. At the beach there are killer whales, dolphins and we have counted over 30 bald eagles at one time. Yet, we are only a 40 minute drive from metropolitan Vancouver. So you can have it all.
This property has been our passion project for the past six years, when we purchased the land completely untouched and uncleared! Over the years, we built our dream vacation home- a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and relax in nature. The majority of our summers are spent here, working in our large vegetable and flower gardens, tending to the fruit orchard, floating in the pool, and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. At night, due to the minimal light, the sky is covered in stars, meteors, and satellites- you'll stay up all night counting shooting stars!
The house sits on five acres of beautiful field and forest. Completely surrounded by towering trees, our property has 360 degrees of privacy. We have a large groomed lawn that is perfect for a game of croquet or soccer, or to spread out some picnic blankets. During the summertime, we have a small sun-heated pool, which is perfect for cooling off or floating the day away on an air mattress. A barbeque is provided for cooking a delicious grilled meal, no matter the season. A large, contained fire pit, surrounded by several colourful lounge chairs, is available for hotdog and marshmallow roasting. Surrounding half of the house, is a large deck full of lounge chairs, a cushioned swing, a dining table and chairs, and small patio sofas. No matter where the sun is in the sky, you will find a sunny spot to lounge! Bicycles, sports equipment, games, paddle boards, kayaks, small sailboat and pool toys are all available for use.
Inside, we have a beautiful open-concept layout, with large windows showcasing views of the forest, taking the majority of the wallspace. We offer a fully equipped kitchen with a large island. You can find nearly any kitchen gadget or gizmo in our cupboards- from pizza stones to crockpots. During the summer, there are many fresh vegetables and herbs available for your cooking. Our bedrooms provide one king and three queen beds, all extremely comfortable and ready to give you a wonderful night's sleep after a day of exploring. Every bedroom has its own heating and thermostat. The living room is furnished with two large sofas, a flatscreen television (with cable, DVD player, Netflix, and Amazon Prime), and a wood-burning fireplace for cozy rainy days.
We would love to share our special spot with you, and give you the same feelings of serenity that we experience at our home away from home!
What you will love about this neighborhood
Point Roberts is a unique town, less than 13 sq. km big, with a population of just 1,300. Situated on the Tsawwassen peninsula, Point Roberts is a tiny piece of American land attached to Canadian mainland. The three sides of Point Roberts are surrounded by beautiful beaches and ocean, with views ranging from Vancouver, Mount Baker, Vancouver Island, and the Gulf Islands. The town is sparsely developed, allowing large fields and forests to grow freely. Point Roberts has one of the largest bald eagle populations in the world, and it isn't unusual to spot orca whales passing through its waters. Point Roberts offers many beautiful nature walks and trails, birdwatching, seasonal water sports, and a stunning golf course.
Point Roberts is a less than 10 minute drive from Tsawwassen, Tsawwassen Mills (the 1.2 million sq. ft shopping centre), and the ferry terminal (ferries to Victoria, Nanaimo, and the Gulf Islands). Downtown Vancouver is a 40 minute drive away.
Don't forget your passport, as you will be crossing an international border between Canada and the USA. Please observe the rules and regulations of this border crossing, including what you can and cannot transport.
