This lovingly restored 1920's brick colonial-revival home is in the historic district of Georgetown, South Carolina. The hosts preserved many of the character marks of this home's past, yet provide guests with all the modern conveniences and cleanliness that would be expected in newly built properties. The artwork, fun and usable antiques, and amusing signs represent the fun-loving spirit of the owners.
With conversation pieces abound and plenty of large common areas, this is a home where people can truly spend quality time together.
The home has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, as well as a large living room with an electric fire place and Roku equipped television, a full sized formal dining room featuring a table that seats 8, a separate breakfast or game room that seats 4, a large fully equipped kitchen, and a separate laundry room. Guests also find that the huge front porch and rear patio are also great areas of the house to enjoy.
Our home is located within Georgetown's historic district, which as a historically protected area is the primary attraction for most tourists. In 2018, Georgetown was ranked the #1 small coastal town in North America by USA Today! Many of the buildings date from the 1730's and provide a glimpse into the pre-Revolutionary past of the United States.
The home is only a short stroll to the Historic Waterfront, where a lovely boardwalk connects numerous bars, restaurants, and shopping locales. While in the downtown area, guests can visit the the Stewart Park House (circa 1740) and the Kaminski House Museum (kaminskihousemuseum.org), originally built in 1769. Both homes are open for tours daily. Additionally, the Rice Museum (ricemuseum.org) in the downtown area is in the Old Market Building (circa 1862) and features exhibits on the history of rice production in the area. Just a few steps beyond these attractions on Front Street, East Bay Park offers a boat ramp, also great for kayaking or paddle boarding, as well as a quiet nature trail leading to a sandy river beach for laying out and enjoying some cool breezes off of the scenic, wide water views (morgan park). Also, be sure to pick up some freshly caught seafood from the seafood market on Cannon Street, it surely won't disappoint!
While exploring the surrounding areas, take a 15 minute ride to the beaches of Pawleys Island, go 45 minutes north to Myrtle Beach or drive about an hour to the south to get to Charleston, South Carolina - all world famous destinations within close range for a leisurely day of exploring.
We also recommend spending a day at Brookgreen Gardens https://www.brookgreen.org/, considered the floral jewel of South Carolina's coastal community. Located about 15 miles to the north of Georgetown, this 9,127-acre property preserves the natural and cultivated landscape of this historic site.
