No exchanges until mid 2022, once we are able to get back to Fiji and do some work on our home.
We are looking forward to offering our house up to bookings again. In the meantime we wish you luck on your search for your ideal home exchange!
Our home is situated on the saddle of a hill with panoramic views from every window of our four bedroom, octagonal house. The house is essentially one large open plan space centred on a chef's kitchen, making it ideal if you're keen to cook up produce from the market or that day's catch, with bedrooms around the outside. There are two master bedrooms with king sized beds and a bunk room for the kids. The main master bedroom has an ensuite and the main bathroom has stunning views down on to Waidroka Bay.
Outside there is a natural swimming pool filtered by water plants in the adjoining water garden. There is a large traditional bure with wood fired pizza oven, outdoor kitchen and bar, sound system and BBQ. Half of the bure has a sand floor to dig your toes into while you sit on the locally made furniture and sip sundowners. The bure is surrounded by a kitchen garden that you are welcome to pick from.
Our home is located in the rainforest of Waidroka Bay, the most southerly point of the main island of Viti Levu, on the Coral Coast between Sigatoka and Pacific Harbour. It takes about 2 hours to get there from Nadi International Airport, and is approximately 70 minutes drive to Suva and 20 minutes to Pacific Harbour, the 'adventure capital of Fiji'.
Pacific Harbour has a number of resorts that welcome day guests, many dining options and a year-round 6285-metre golf course, with a practice driving range, adjacent to a river at the Pearl Resort [http://thepearlsouthpacific.com/play/golf].
Pacific Harbour and surrounds also offer deep sea fishing, zip lining, river rafting, jet skiing, boat rides, wake boarding, water skiing, sea kayaking and hiking in the jungle.
Popular free activities include attending a local church service to hear the amazing singing, joining in on a beach volleyball match or watching the Flying Fijians, our Olympic gold medal rugby team, train at Uprising Resort [https://uprisingbeachresort.com].
Less than half a kilometre walk from our house is Waidroka Bay Resort [https://www.waidroka.com], famous for its true Fijian hospitality and smiles. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the stunning views, a drink by the pool or sample their locally inspired food. If you're up for adventure then the resort is one of the best surf and dive resorts in Fiji offering access to a number of breaks, including the world famous 'Frigates'. If you're more fond of diving, then there are dozens of dives close by or head out in to Beqa Lagoon to feed the bull and tiger sharks and over 300 species of fish [http://fijisharkdive.com].
As we are not able to go to the house between stays, we need to charge a USD75 fee per stay to have someone go and manage the changeover.
Electricity is via a credit system (like a prepaid cellphone). We always make sure that there is enough credit to get you started. If you need more, then it is easily purchased in the local village.
