In short, we have a 3 floor semi detached, private garden, cosy family home with games/amenities for small kids, teenagers and even adults! We have a darts board, pool table, ping pong table, 2 tv's (located in kitchen and sitting room), playstation and Wii consoles, plenty of board games and a few decks of cards. As we have 2 children under 4years old, we have loads of toys, and a set of pop-up goals with both child-size and adult-size football/soccer balls, there are a few hurleys and sliothars around, and a basketball ring. Downstairs is an open-plan kitchen/dining-room/den with a couch for the kids, and this leads into the sitting-room for the adults which can also be open plan if required or separated by closing the double doors. This opens to a back garden and patio. There is a toilet and one bedroom downstairs also, there are 2 single beds in this bedroom. Upstairs has a master bedroom and en-suite (with shower), a bedroom with 2 toddler beds, a main bathroom with shower/bath, and a small bedroom that is used for storage. On the next floor, we have converted our attic into another large bedroom with a double bed. This room can take a pop-up double bed with plenty of space left over! We also have a double pop-up air bed and another pop-up air bed suitable for a child up to the age of approx. 8years. I also have a baby cot suitable for babies up to approx. 8 or 9 months. Our home is still a work in progress but it is safe, child-friendly and homely.

We live in an historic town in a quiet neighbourhood, within walking distance to shops, playground, gym, indoor public swimming pool, bar, pharmacy, bank, and church. Shannon airport is our closest airport, approx 40 minutes drive. Dublin airport is approx 2 and half hours drive from our home. Askeaton has the remains of a Franciscan Abbey, a Castle, and one of two Hellfire clubs in Ireland. Located on West Limericks N69, Askeaton is ideally located for visiting some fabulous areas along the Limerick coast, Kerry and Clare. There are many other beautiful place along the Wild Atlantic Way http://www.wildatlanticway.com/. We are close to Adare with some fabulous boutiques for those that like to browse shops and its fantastic thatched cottages, and Limerick City with a choice of shopping centres and indoor play areas for kids in the event of a rainy day. Saturday mornings there is a farmers market in Limerick City which has local produce, artisan foods and arts and crafts. It is also a great place to sit on a Saturday morning and listen to music while enjoying a coffee. Limerick is known as a city of sport and the University of Limerick offers a range of activities. The running track, playing pitches, tennis courts and Olympic sized swimming pool are all open to the public. The world famous Munster rugby ground Thomond Park is worth a visit. Throughout the summer months there are sports events which attract many spectators. The University Concert Hall in Limerick also has live shows - booking is usually essential - www.uch.ie. There are many golf courses within a short drive of our home. Other activities include mountain biking in Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Centre and sailing/ boat trips at Killaloe on Lough Derg. Limerick is perfectly located in the mid-west which makes it easy to drive to other areas such as Galway (1hr 20 mins), Cork (1 hr 20 mins) and Dublin (2hrs). Despite being situated on the Shannon river, the coast is 1 hr away with great beaches in Kerry and Clare where you can surf in Lahinch and see the famous Cliff of Moher http://www.cliffsofmoher.ie/. Scenic walks amidst the hills, forests and lakes that surround our city are all within a 30 minute drive. Visit Cratloe Woods, the Clare Glens Lough Gur and Killaloe and Curragh Chase Forest Park just 10 minutes for a wonderful taste of our Irish countryside. Stonehall Wildlife Farm is just minutes away as well with animals such as Llamas, Alpacas, Ostriches, Emus, Rheas, Wallaby’s, Meerkats with a large variety of Parrots, & Birds of Prey.

Our home is ideally located for exploring many parts of Ireland. It is also cosy for a lazy day at home with plenty to do both at home and within walking distance. It is suitable for both an adults only getaway or for family breaks. My 3 year old recently told me "I love our home, it's just the way we want it" and that really sums it up perfectly!
