What you will love about this home
Our home is an art-filled, single family detached, 2 bedroom, 2 bath home at the end of a cul-de-sac (no traffic) in a family neighborhood. The living area is an open floor plan with a kitchen, dining, and living room. We have a large flat screen HDTV and wifi. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the beds (one king, one double) have comfortable linens and down comforters. There is a washer/dryer and bicycles for your use. The backyard is private with a BBQ, and the front patio serves as another living space when the weather is nice (which it often is). Our home is very comfortable and clean, with access to a walking path right outside our door, views of the Irish Hills, and a short bike ride to downtown San Luis Obispo.
What you will love about this neighborhood
We live in a family neighborhood, with sidewalks, walking path, and a grocery store and shopping center just down the hill from us, about 1/4 mile. We are 3 miles from the lovely and lively downtown of San Luis Obispo, famous for California's first outdoor Farmer's Market, held on Thursday nights. There is a designated bicycle path to downtown. Islay Hill, with a hiking trail to the top and amazing views, is a few blocks away. San Luis Obispo is located on California's central coast. Founded in 1772 with the creation of the Spanish mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, it is central to downtown with a lovely plaza. San Luis Obispo is also home to California Polytechnic University. Beaches and small beach towns (Pismo, Avila, Morro Bay, Cayucos) are about 15 minutes from here. We are in the heart of wine country, with many impressive wineries and quality wines (we rival Napa for wineries). Hiking and biking trails abound, as well as many other outdoor activities (kayaking, golfing). San Luis Obispo is halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco (both about 3.5 hours away). Monterey is 2 hours north of us, Santa Barbara 1.5 hours south of us. The train station is a mile away, which gives easy access to many cities of southern and northern California. As well, our airport (with United, American, and Alaska service) is minutes away.
We are most interested in a reciprocal exchange, however, will entertain other exchanges should it work out for everyone. Our minimum length of exchange would be 2 weeks, but would prefer 1 month or more. We are interested in visiting the UK, Iceland, Spain, and most parts of Europe. We prefer city/village central, close to restaurants and shopping, as we will be traveling by foot. Being generally interested in many places, we would consider an exchange "where we had not thought of going before".
