What you will love about this home
Our home is nearly 300 years old but renovated about 12 years ago. We are both artists, so it's full of antiques and loads of lovely, open, spacious rooms. The main floor is an open kitchen/living room plan that is a mix of 200-year old wood floors and top of the line appliances. Our property is filled with specimen trees, and beautiful gardens and an amazing salt pool with a waterfall, fire pit and screened gazebo. We have 3 good hybrid bikes for loan; this is a hugely popular area for biking as it has some of the best trails on the east coast of the US with a wide range of easy to very difficult rides. We both worked in New York in the arts, so we commuted every day; it's an easy commute by car or bus. At the same time, you are centrally located in one of the wealthiest most diverse suburbs in the United States. Fabulous restaurants, great shopping, amazing cultural arts, hiking on the Palisades overlooking the NYC skyline, literally endless things to do for every type of traveller. This is, quite honestly, one of the most sought after locations in the world due to it's proximity to any imaginable activity. We love it!
What you will love about this neighborhood
Our home is a federally designated historical home in a leafy, beautiful "bedroom community" just outside New York City. People choose to live in our little village because it offers a quiet, rich suburban life only a short commute to the heart of one of the most extraordinary cities in the world. We are a 7 minute walk, past the duckpond and historical train station, to a little town with a gourmet coffee/crepe shop, a great bagel store, a terrific Greek restaurant, the best sushi and Chinese food, a much-loved and very typical pizza joint, a fabulous middle eastern restaurant, and a gourmet food store. A five-minute drive up the road, there are cosmopolitan little villages with every kind of food, activity and shopping imaginable. Because it is one of the wealthiest communities in the country, every amenity imaginable is available. But it is diverse as well. A few towns over are very working class, great towns with thousands of first generation immigrants making new lives for themselves. New Jersey, because of its proximity to NY, is incredibly diverse and a model of integration. Having travelled extensively and lived in a number of locations across the US, I can confidently say I live in one of the most wonderful places in the world. Come visit!
One of the most beautiful, historical homes in this gorgeous area.
Amazing location; can be in NYC in less than an hour. 15 minutes from some of the best shopping in the US.
Fabulous garden patios, huge yard, natural salt pool, huge house, beautifully decorated, very cozy.
