What you will love about this home
We moved into our green eco house in 2019. We project managed the build which is sited on the land behind the old farmhouse where we used to live. It is spacious, bright and cosy warm in cold weather. Upstairs is a large living/kitchen/diner with great views across the surrounding countryside. There is a second living room upstairs with a sofa bed and a large shower room next door. Downstairs there are 4 bedrooms, three of which are on a separate corridor with a family bathroom enabling privacy if you stay when we are at home. The main bedroom is en suite and there is an additional toilet through the utility room. We have a travel cot and other equipment and toys for younger children. The utility room has fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave so if staying whilst we’re here you can use these facilities as well as the main kitchen.
The garden with lawn, patios, BBQ and pond outside the bedrooms can also be reached down the stairs from a large balcony outside the living room. Beyond the garden is a small field with a children’s slide and loads of space to run around. There is room to park 2 vehicles outside the garage.
What you will love about this neighborhood
The house is in the small village of Sharnford in Leicestershire which has two pubs (with food) and a garage. On the door step there is attractive countryside for walking like Fosse Meadows with woods, play areas, and wildlife and several canals are very nearby. Within 3 miles is Stoney Cove where you can go wild swimming and scuba diving.
Sharnford is within 25 minutes of each of the city centres of Leicester and Coventry. You can drive to Shakespeare’s Stratford, Warwick (castle), Birmingham (England’s stunning second city), and Nottingham all in 45 minutes. Both Oxford and Cambridge are less than one and a half hours drive. You can reach some of the most beautiful countryside in England in one to two hours such as the Cotswolds or the Derbyshire Peaks or Dales. Trains from nearby Rugby station to London take 55 minutes. Manchester, Liverpool, Bath and York are 2.5 hours maximum by car.
We are within an hour’s driving from Birmingham, East Midlands and Luton airports.
Leicester is home to The National Space Centre and the King Richard III centre. It is one of the most multicultural cities in England with two universities and masses of good restaurants and shops. Coventry has a stunning modern Cathedral, the National Transport museum and a beautiful medieval guildhall.
There is a large shopping centre with a huge Marks and Spencers, clothes stores and supermarkets etc 10 minutes from the house. There is a small well stocked supermarket in the next village 5 minutes drive away and about 30 minutes walk through the fields.
