What you will love about this home
My exchange home can be a small 1.5 bedroom apartment within a free-standing house (or, if it works with my travel plans, the whole home except for my bedroom). The apartment accommodation consists of a bright, sunny and stylish bedroom (lockable) with a comfortable double bed (with the option of a sofa bed in the second upstairs room) plus. upstairs, your own bathroom, toilet room and kitchenette in the breakfast/sitting room. The apartment includes a lounge room and your own entrance downstairs. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have..
The apartment is part of a little private cottage but is separated from my own living space in this modern, architect designed house which sits happily in a quiet, leafy street within the inner-city village of Forest Lodge. It is surrounded by heritage houses and parks. You will be staying almost in the heart of the city but with the added benefit of lots of trees and minimal traffic. A perfect location!
The accommodation is also listed on Airbnb (see https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1336819 as there are lots of positive references and reviews there).
What you will love about this neighborhood
A very short walk will allow you to access at least 10 bus routes to many exciting areas of Sydney. Direct bus services (5-20 minute bus ride) go to: Sydney CBD, Circular Quay ferries, China Town, Darling Harbour, Sydney Opera House, The Rocks, Central Station and trendy Balmain, Darlinghurst and Newtown areas. There is even a direct bus that takes you to Coogee Beach.
If you are feeling like some exercise, you can walk to the city centre in about 35-40 minutes and this can be doubly enjoyable if you walk along the harbour foreshore parks and paths via the famous Sydney Fish Markets (a great place for lunch).
Shorter walks will take you to Rozelle Bay, amazing cafes and restaurants (Glebe, Annandale and Newtown are fantastic!), three universities, Broadway Shopping Centre (Hoyts Cinemas), Victoria Park outdoor pool and to Glebe Point Road for more shops and a great market on Saturdays.
Everything you are likely to need is available close by, including a supermarket 5 minutes walk away.
My home is modern but is in a heritage area of old Sydney
It is a great place to go for a wander as there are lots of parks (and birds) and interesting places
It is easy to find great cafes and restaurants and fun things to do close by
