good_feature_description

Our home is in Whitehorse Yukon, which is a little cosmopolitan town in the middle of pristine wilderness (the territory has 33,000 in an area about the size of Spain). You can access rivers, lakes, mountains, glaciers, Alaska all in a day. If you like hiking, mountain biking, or lakes and rivers, our house will be the perfect base station. We built our home in 2010 and we wanted to make sure we did it right! Our landscaping consists of vegetable gardens and fruit trees and bushes, which adds a nice touch to making dinner. The neighbourhood is perfect for kids as we're at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac.

good_place_description

We live in a quiet neighbourhood just up the hill from downtown Whitehorse. Whitehorse is a small but cosmopolitan town that has great coffee shops (the usual chains, but the Chocolate Claim and Baked Cafe are super) and restaurants (Antoinette's, Miner's Daughter, and Wayfarer Oyster House our some options). If you're interested in mountain biking or trail running, we have over hundred kilometres of trails that start within a 6km radius of our house, or drive 45 minutes to access the renowned Montana Mountain trail network in Carcross. There are also a variety of events/races - Reckless Raven (trail ultra - July 1), Yukon River Trail Marathon (end of July), Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay (Middle of June - 230km relay from Haines Junction Yukon across the border to Haines Alaska), or the 24 hours of light mountain bike race (Weekend closest to the longest day of the year - 24 hour race with no lights allowed). Events - The Atlin Music Festival (second weekend in July), Aboriginal Day (June 21), or Dawson City Music Festival (third weekend of July). Other activities include following the path of the Klondike Gold Rush. You can either do the 4 day hike from Skagway Alaska up the Chilkoot Pass to Canada, or paddle a section or all of the Yukon River from Whitehorse to Dawson City Yukon.
