What you will love about this home
Our home is located in beautiful San Luis Obispo (SLO), California in the central coast of California. We enjoy living on a 22 acre lake with a park and green space on the opposite shore, The front of our house is in a quiet residential neighborhood of private homes; the back offers an expansive view of lake, mountains and green space. The lake, home to white pelicans, snowy egrets, great blue herons, cormorants, ducks, geese, grebes, coots, etc., is a bird-lover’s paradise. From the backyard it feels like we are in the wilderness, yet we are a short walk to shopping, restaurants and hiking trails.
The house is large and recently remodeled with 3 bedr h a queen bed and en suite bath with a shower, a second bedroom with queen bed, and crib, and a hall bath with a tub. There is an additional bedroom for children or slight adults upstairs with triple bunk beds (2 bunks with a trundle) as well as a lake view yoga studio. The first floor is all on one level, with 1 small step at the entrance to the home.
Grocery store, pharmacy and restaurants are are only a few block away. We are a short walk to The Irish Hills in one direction and Laguna Lake park in the other - both offering green space and numerous hiking and biking trails. It is about a 2 mile walk, bike, or drive to beautiful downtown San Luis Obispo where you will find the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, established in 1772, tree lined streets, and creek-side dining.
A 10-15 minute drive takes you to wine tasting in the Edna valley or the ocean at Avila or Pismo beach. Morro Bay, Cambria , San Simeon (Hearst Castle), and Paso Robles (another wine region) are an easy drive.
What you will love about this neighborhood
"Experience the SLO life" is how residents entice guests with our incredible quality of life. San Luis Obispo (SLO) is an idyllic area located on California’s beautiful central coast. The county lies in coastal rolling hills and wine country, culturally and geographically half-way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is convenient to those two metro areas, yet sufficiently removed to avoid extensive urban growth and the pace of urban life.
We are blessed with a temperate, year-round Mediterranean climate, averaging 315 days of sunshine per year. Summers are delightfully mild, with daytime highs in the 70s and low 80s and cool evening temperatures. Winter highs are in the 60s and 70s, with crisp, clear nights. Frost is rare, snow almost unheard of. Cooling sea breezes make air conditioning unnecessary. Outdoor dining, either at home or at a unique local restaurant, is a year-round pleasure.
California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), Cuesta College, and many artistic venues for the fine and performing arts provide abundant cultural and intellectual stimulation, while parks, green space and magnificent beaches provide breathtaking recreational opportunities. The city of San Luis Obispo is bicycle friendly, with bike lanes on most streets and abundant bike trails in the city’s green space. SLO has more green space per capita than any other city in the US! Add the luscious yield from our orchards, ranches, farms and wineries and you’ll understand why the residents of San Luis Obispo enjoy high levels of emotional well-being. In his recent National Geographic book, "Thrive: Finding Happiness the Blue Zone Way", author Dan Buettner identified San Luis Obispo as the happiest place in the United States. Residents of SLO and environs live up to this challenge with a sincere willingness to engage in conversation, begin each and every encounter with a smile, and offer assistance to those in need.

We love the blue skies and sunshine, looking at the mountains, lake & wildlife and enjoying a morning canoe ride (our canoe is available for your use) and sitting on the dock at sunset and watching the night come.
