What you will love about this home

We live in a very comfortable 5 bedroom detached bungalow (2500 sq ft/232 sq m) in a quiet and prestigious suburb of Cork City (Ireland's second largest city, on the south coast of Ireland). Our home is spacious, bright and clean and totally laid out for family living. We have mature, lush and green gardens with sheltered patios to the front and rear of the house (ideal for a BBQ). We live at the end of a very quiet and safe road (cul de sac) with little or no traffic. We have family members who live a few doors away that will be able to help you with anything in the house. The Kitchen/Dining room was completely renovated in the summer of 2015 creating a modern and relaxing heart to our home, complete with a large range cooker and an inset stove for cooler evenings. We also have 4 discrete in-ceiling speakers and a bluetooth audio system for those who enjoy music while cooking, eating and relaxing! The main living area is a large open plan area with 2 comfortable leather sofas and a large leather armchair. The room has an inset stove for cooler days in Ireland. For home entertainment the main living area has a 55” LG OLED flatscreen HDTV, Sky Q TV, Netflix and a discrete 7.1 surround sound system. High Speed Wifi Internet access via fibre is available throughout the house. The master bedroom has a very comfortable Super Kingsize bed (200x200) and has an en-suite toilet/shower room. 2 bedrooms have double beds and two bedrooms have single beds (so the home can accommodate 8 comfortably however we can add additional beds depending on your requirements). The house has 3 bathrooms, each with a shower (and one bath). At the far end of our home we have a gaming/relaxing room for our children and their friends which has a 40" TV, PS4 and in ceiling surround sound for TV, movies and video games. It is a lovely calm room for the kids to go to read and relax (with access to the back patio). We have a playroom/sun room (with table tennis table) overlooking (and with access to) the fully enclosed safe rear garden (we have also trained a grape vine to grow into this room which gives a green leafy ceiling during the summer and produces red grapes in the Autumn). The house is a bungalow and has no stairs which makes it ideal for the very young or old! 4 Bikes with safety gear are available. We also have roller blades. The garden has a childrens play shed and a 14ft trampoline. The local village is less than 2km from the house with shops, restaurants, playgrounds and cinema. There are a number of lovely walks and cycles nearby. We can also make a 2015 Kia Sorrento (7 seater people carrier) available as part of a car exchange. We have a yacht (37ft Ketch) in Castletownshend, West Cork (1hr 15mins drive from our house) which could be made available to an experienced sailor.

What you will love about this neighborhood

We live in a quiet suburb of Cork city (which is on the south coast of Ireland) called Rochestown and we are just 10 minutes drive to the city centre and within walking distance (1.5km) from the village of Douglas which is packed with shops, pubs and restaurants. Cork international airport is 10 minutes away. Cork has been listed no 3. in the Lonely Planets Top cities to visit in 2010 (alongside Abu Dhabi, Charleston (South Carolina, USA), Cuenca (Ecuador), Istanbul, Kyoto, Lecce in Italy, Sarajevo, Singapore and Vancouver). The guide says Cork is now “at the top of its game: sophisticated, vibrant and diverse”. http://www.cometocork.ie/images/uploads/Cork_Lonely_Planet_2010.pdf Cork city is a compact, vibrant and friendly city (it was European Capital of Culture in 2005) with all the facilities of a modern city. The city is full of historical interest, medieval architecture, culture, pubs and a vibrant art scene. Cork is the 'gourmet' capital of Ireland with many fine restaurants. The 'Old English Market' (which can trace its origins back to James 1st in 1610) in the city centre is a food lovers delight selling Ireland's finest food. The famed Blarney Castle is 20 mins away. Cork is a popular destination for students of all ages who want to improve their English, with many language schools in the city. Cork is a fantastic launch pad for the beautiful coastal seaside towns of Cobh and Kinsale. We are only an hours drive from the beautiful sandy beaches and unspoilt and rugged landscapes of West Cork and Kerry (with its famed lakes of Killarney). If in Ireland you must check out the Wild Atlantic Way. We are also within easy reach of many championship golf courses in the area such as Fota & Old Head of Kinsale.
