I am Donna and work as a teacher at the International school. My husband Andrew is a yacht broker and keen sailor. We have two sons. We are Australian and have lived on Phuket for 10 years. We enjoy sailing, beach days, boat trips, eating out and spending time with friends. We also travel frequently, which is why we thought this web site was such a good idea for us!
We have two children aged 10 and 3 years who have been taught to respect and care for other homes as well as our own. We have swapped before and have friends who have houseswapped and have had good experiences.
My dates are tied to school terms which are around Xmas New Year, April, July August and February.
We often visit family in Australia so a house swap to Brisbane Adelaide or Sydney might work! We love travelling so tempt us!
We are members of the ACYC and spend time on Phuket sailing our 36 ft Swanson and the tasar dinghy. My husband enjoys playing on the many golf courses Phuket has to offer. My son enjoys tennis, badminton and participating in the runs and triathalons on Phuket. the youngest enjoys the beaches and the pools.
We had planned a home exchange last year with Andrew and Donna. When they were at our place, we were very pleased to have hosted such respectful people. Unfortunately, we've had to change our plans and haven't been able to visit them yet. Anyway Andrew and Donna are very helpful people, always ready to give information when they are asked to. It was very nice exchanging emails with them ! Hope to meet them soon ! Catherine and Jean-Luc
We are Australians but we have lived in South East Asia for a very long time, so a trip to Europe was very special. Prior to this home swap we spent a week in London and a week in Paris. This area was absolutely lovely; quiet with some lovely walks and so much to do. We drove to the Somme Valley, through small towns, saw a local circus, visited Chantilly, a fantastic castle and did many wonderful small day trips. The home was warm and very comfortable. Catherine had someone meet us at the station and help us settle in. This was a really special part of our trip and one which took us away from the cities and tourist traps. We loved the stone streets, local water fountain across the street, gardens and quaint churches. It was all even more picture perfect then we could imagine. Catherine had left us a wealth of information regarding where to eat, where to go and how to get things we needed. Thanks and merci....
We have had the pleasure to welcomme Andrew and Donna at home in Paris. Everything was great, they lived in our house as they were at home. Even we haven't plan to go to Phucket yet they always give news and ask when we will come. It's a wonderfull family carefull and enthousiast. We were very happy to met them and will be happy to welcome them again without exchanging... Médina ostermann
Medina's home was just off the metro but still an easy walk to the train station. A lovely small town and a beautiful roomy home. We went into Paris every day and it was an easy and fast trip. Medina had left loads of information and suggestions about what to do and where to go and even escorted us from the Train station when we arrived so we would know how to use the transport systems. The house was very spacious with two levels so there was plenty of room. The house was bright, airy and sunny. We had every convenience we could need. We enjoyed spending time in the garden and eating breakfast, visiting the local markets and just really pottering about. We could have easily stayed longer The train station was literally a 5 minute walk away and took away the burden of parking and fees in Paris. It was all so easy and Medina very hospitable. It was in all a great experience
We had an extremely relaxing time at Andrew and Donna's lovely, spacious home right on the canal. Everything we needed was there in the house and though it was away from the main tourist area there were a couple of restaurants within a short walking distance. There was a small supermarket within walking distance and we were also just across the road from the marina where there was a great bakery for morning coffee and breakfast. All the early morning daytrippers boarding their boats kept us entertained as we enjoyed the ambience of the waterfront. Though the house was away from the busy areas it was a reasonably relaxing drive to go wherever you wanted and a car was available. If you don't want to be in the middle of the noise and the main action, then this exchange is highly recommended for a few days relaxation.
Our home exchange with Andrew and Donna to their home in Phuket was great. Phuket is a wonderful place to go to relax, soak up the sun and take in the amazing beaches and scenery. Shopping is great too. Our exchange in the Boat lagoon was amazing to see all the super yachts right on the doorstep. Our kids had a wonderful time in the house being able to play with all the toys. We were also able to organize a car exchange which allowed us to explore the island. We found driving here quite easy. Andrew and Donna took great care of our house and are lovely people and we would definitely recommend them for future exchanges. Thanks Guys Amy, Aaron, Josh and Jess
It was a pleasure to have Donna and Andrew stay in our home. They also have two boys who were also clearly very respectful of our home. The pre planning was seamless with frequent emails between us. They stayed over Christmas and I think really enjoyed our home. Even though we didn't get to know them on a personal level I feel they are friends now and wouldn't hesitate to exchange with again. They left our house spotless and even left a small gift all the way from Thailand! It was a pleasure to have such lovely people stay in our home!
Staying at Boat Lagoon in Andrew and Donna's villa made for a perfect holiday and they were terrific people to swap with. My days were spent cycling around the resort, swimming in the huge pool, going for (very reasonably priced) massages and beauty treatments, more swimming, eating fabulous food, and surprise, surprise, there is great coffee in Phuket. Shopping was great and Andrew and Donna kindly allowed me to use their bicycle and car. Their villa on the water was the perfect quiet retreat for a worn out city slicker. Back home, my house was beautifully cared for and I'd recommend Andrew and Donna as generous, relaxed and very good people with whom to arrange a swap. Glenys Rowe, August 2011
We had a brilliant time in Coogee. It was winter but we had some lovely sunny days and brisk walks to Bondi. we enjoyed eating fish and chips at the beach and bascally visiting where I grew up! The house was in a fabulous location. walking distance to all we needed but far enough away to be quiet! Glenys was really helpful when providing any information and brochures we might need! One of my fav stays...
