Discover our friendly, historic, festive city!
Life is good in this magical town, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico! Seeing the world via home exchanging is our preferred way to travel!! Food and wine, nature, the ocean, art, photography, concerts, museums and theatre, all we've enjoyed during 30 exchanges: Paris, Provence, Sydney, Mexico's Pacific coast, and California, to name a few. We've met wonderful people thru home exchanging. We are open to many destinations. Our town, San Miguel de Allende, and our region in Mexico will be an amazing place for you to discover!
We have many interests. Patric loves to play golf. I am passionate about languages, French, Italian and Spanish.
Diana and Patric's home in San Miguel de Allende is phenomenal! Gorgeous and well appointed throughout. The sunrises over the city from the top deck are something we'll never forget. The kitchen was spectacular and inspirational. The gardens and bubbling Koi pond were relaxing and lovely. We walked everywhere and enjoyed the local folks who welcomed us with open arms (and helped us with our Spanish!) There were celebrations downtown, and you could feel the excitement on the town square. You cannot find a friendlier place to vacation, and Diana and Patric did everything they could to make sure our stay was exceptional.
This is a warm and comfortable home in a beautiful and serene garden setting. The forest and mountain views are lovely. Hiking trails are nearby, and the charming town of Fairfax is only a mile away. We were greeted by Tyler, about the friendliest black Lab on the planet, who made us feel at home throughout our stay. Our hosts, Laura and John were wonderful to work with-very flexible and accommodating. Highly recommended!
A lovely hideaway above San Miguel. The house is stylishly furnished yet very comfortable. The cats were no trouble at all and we're dog people! We especially appreciated the regular communication with Patric and Diana that enabled us to address minor issues on both ends.
Patric and I had a most successful exchange in October, 2010 with Jackie and Michael. Their home in San Rafael, Marin County is on a hillside overlooking the Bay. We so enjoyed the views of the water, sunrise to sunset from several rooms and being out on their expansive deck as well. Their home is very comfortable, has great light, and is carefully maintained. We found the Reinhardts very accommodating. They replied to all our questions before and during our trade. When we returned to our home, everything was in order. This is an excellent location for exploring other parts of Marin County, and has some great trails nearby which we enjoyed, also a superb farmers' market and fine shopping.
We could not have imagined a more helpful couple to exchange with than Patric and Diana. We had a wonderful exchange in their beautiful home for three weeks in July-August 2013. This was our first exchange experience. We were able to comfortable fit our family of 6 (four kids 7 to 14) in their high-end, beautifully appointed home. Never having been to San Miquel, we had a great experience that exceeded our expectations. Diana went above and beyond with guides and suggestions to show us the best places to eat and attractions, and even Spanish schools for the kids. We were concerned about safety going to Mexico, but felt very safe the entire trip, safer there than in many cities we've been to in the US. We couldn't believe how inexpensive our cost of living was in San Miquel. We highly recommend San Miquel and La Casa Ellsworth, and thank Diana and Patric for making our stay so enjoyable in their home!!
Nicole's home is spacious, comfortable,well-appointed and conveniently located in the lovely town of Mill Valley. Though we (a couple) basically used only the top floor, there is a full-sized lower level which contains the children's rooms (very neat and well-organized) a TV/Rec room, and a projects room, which opens into a pretty back lawn and garden. If you like dogs (and probably even if you don't), you'll love Kirby-very playful and friendly, in addition to being well-behaved. A big plus for us! We enjoyed taking him on walks around the attractive neighborhood. Mill Valley has many amenities, including a comedy venue (Throckmorton Theater) and a music hall (Sweetwater) both of which offer top-notch entertainment. Good restaurants abound, and food shopping is easy, with TWO Whole Foods markets, as well as a Safeway. Mill Valley is a terrific walking town , with many beautiful pathways and trails in the redwoods. San Francisco is an easy drive away, as are both the Napa and Sonoma wine countries. Our interaction with Nicole was unfailingly positive and friendly. She is extremely helpful, informative and understanding, which made us feel very much at home in her house. We thank Nicole and her family, and are happy to highly recommend this exchange.
We've been on over 45 house exchanges and THIS one was easily one of our top destinations. Patric and Diana's Casa La Quinta is a complete work of art, from architectural detailing to lovely furnishings AND it's thoroughly comfortable as well. It was simply pleasurable just being in their home, enjoying the view from the terrace, admiring their art collection, or eating in their lovely dining room or even al fresco on the terrace.immediately adjacent to the kitchen. We had ample opportunity to take first class, luxury, buses to nearby Guanajuato, Dolores Hidalgo and Queretaro but we could have spent an equal amount of time just exploring the endless alleys, cobblestone streets, and beautiful restaurants, markets and stores in San Miguel itself. The people here are uniformly friendly and helpful and even with our very limited Spanish we managed to communicate well enough to get around everywhere in the City as well as the nearby historic communities as well. We’re committed to returning to this magical city again sometime; and there could be no more beautiful and comfortable location than the Ellsworths' lovely home.
