- Marq Lawyer (55)
- Eveline Investigative jounalist (54)
- Franka Student (Uni) (20)
- Renzo Student (school) (16)
The four of us like to travel, Franka has just left our house to study (and party!) in Groningen, Renzo is in secundairy school and loves to play the piano. We're enjoying our work - but we do like to take time off and go somewhere completely different. We are happy to share our loft-like house on one of the most beautiful and quiet canals in the very centre of Amsterdam!
July 4 — August 3, 2015 These dates are flexible
We are looking for a week near Brisbane at the start or the end of our trip, and a week up north around Cairns mid July.
Apart from seeing the sights, we like to know where we are - for real. So visiting local markets and trying out new food - either on the street or in small restaurants - is always on the agenda.
We just returned from an exchange with Marq and Eveline. Their place is indeed full of surprises and just one stop from Amsterdam Central station. We could easily navigate to all the main attractions of Amsterdam and the house had everything we needed including a beautiful gourmet-equipped kitchen complete with an espresso machine! Eveline was very helpful throughout – sending us lots of points of interest and also fetching us at the station upon our arrival, which was a great help! The whole family welcomed us and made us feel at home. Thank you Marq, Eveline, Franka and Renzo for the use of your house!
Servane invited me to come over one night early to have dinner with her and her boys, which was very kind and offered a chance to meet and get to know each other a bit. I felt very welcome, which was made easy by a guide she had prepared for the house and the best places to go. I loved jogging in the Jardin des Plantes and discovering Paris by Velolib, there are now so many bicycles available and safe ways to negotiate the city, great experience! The house is very central, at a typical Paris boulevard, but in the back house, so very quiet. Furniture indeed beautiful!
Eveline and her family were lovely guests - the children (young adults) were so enthusiastic and engaged. Everyone enjoyed the house and the region. The house was left in impeccable condition. Our families enjoyed time together, and we had very interesting conversations. I look forward to meet everyone again and visit your beautiful city,
Marq remembers the birds waking him up each morning, while Eveline still feels the Asian vibe of the house. Breakfast in the sun with home-made croissants, cooking in the most wonderful kitchen, and the outdoor shower brought us back in Indonesia. A great starting point for trips further up north or beach walks taking the dog. Carine is a very welcoming host, the house doubles as a B&B, so she knows what it takes to make you feel right. The fact that our daughters shared interests and a study paved the way for a delightful dinner party, we were really sorry we could not stay any longer. Carina, when are you coming over to Europe? Looking forward to see you again.
