- John Math Consultant (68)
- Susan Retired (75)
Hello from the Big Apple
We are a couple of mature ex-teachers who always want to travel. My husband, John, is an Australian who works in New York elementary schools as a math consultant. He is also a passionate tennis player. I am a retired watercolor painter, a native New Yorker, and I love antiques, books and films, gardening. I try to grow old roses on our balcony. We have a grown daughter and grand baby in Sydney and we'd love to visit them soon.
December 27 — January 3, 2016 These dates are flexible
Looking for one week near Noosa, will swap for 2016 in New York.
Like most Aussies, John is a good tennis player and spends as much time playing as he can. I like antiques, gardens, cats and dogs (more than happy to take care of them), eating out and sleeping in. We both like just wandering around old villages.
Susan and John are so kind, it's a pleasure to know them! About our exchange with them...absolutly perfect! The appartment is in a real good place and well equipped and very confortable. We did a fabulous exchange in New York City! They was very careful of our house and they take care of our pets (dogs, cats and goat!!) with the greatest affection. Thanks Susan and John!! We had a wonderful month in John and Susan's Upper East Side Manhattan apartment. The apartment is charming and extremely comfortable with great light during the day and at night a magical skyline view from the balcony. The security of the building is excellent with twenty our hour doormen and fast efficient elevators. The location is wonderful, a terrific neighbourhood with a long list of tempting local amenities ...including supermarkets, delis, diners, restaurants, bars, Central Park, museums and galleries etc etc etc. Walking was our main means of transport, however for trips further afield there is access to the subway and buses within a few blocks to go across or downtown. The apartment was a great base from which to become immersed in Manhattan's legendary charms and to return to after short breaks elsewhere. Impossible to imagine anyone being disappointed with this home exchange.
We enjoyed a memorable two weeks in NYC. We really enjoyed our stay. Susan and John are very nice people and they have a beautiful apartment, in a quiet area, near to the Central park. It was our first exchange and it couldn't have been better. At the beginning we were a bit anxious but Susan was very helpful from the very first mail and all exchange went smooth and I can say now we love the experience. Before our meeting, we spoke several times on Skype with them and we felt immediately in confidence Our stay was excellent, very-well organized and everything went just perfect. They left us explanations to use facilities in her house as well. It was a successful exchange for us. We surely recommend them and their apartment for a NYC exchange! When they came to our place, they left the place clean and offered us a bunch of flowers. We appreciated the excellent care taken with our home. Susan and John have been perfect guests, we recommend them for an exchange. They were very uncomplicated, generous, friendly and clean people. We would recommend this exchange to anyone. It was a very friendly exchange, in good and cordial conditions. Thank you a lot for your availability and kindness.
