Our time in California was great. The communication with Jim during the whole process of the home exchange was excellent. We loved our stay in the house of Jims family. It´s a great home, close to nature with a lot of amenities. E.g. we enjoyed it so much, to pick fresh oranges in the garden for our daily orange juice. The house and area are very good described. It´s located on a hill surrounded by pure nature and you have such a great panorama ocean view and mountain view. We enjoyed the little humming birds all around the house. The area is perfect for people who need relaxation and a quiet place. In just some minutes we were able to drive to all the beaches close to the house and in just 10 minutes we were able to drive from the house into downtown Santa Barbara. We stayed there almost ten days and we would come back anytime. Jim and his family respected our home and they also helped to feed our two outdoor cats. If you are planning a home exchange in California you will be happy if you find a nice family like Jim and his family.
Wow, where should I start? With one word: perfect. In every way. The stunning house, the awesome owners, the intense beauty of the setting, the ocean views, the gorgeous gardens, even all the butterflies and hummingbirds...a real story book paradise. The whole thing is one huge gift.
Our first home exchange and did we ever luck out... Wow! Truly a treat. We enjoyed one of the most relaxing and joyous weekends of our lives at this paradise retreat. Ocean views, fresh air, humming birds, and acres of land to explore and hike. Not to mention a gorgeously designed house with attention to craftsmanship and every aesthetic detail. They even left helpful personal notes to help guide us through the journey. Our first morning we were welcomed by an ocean view sunrise -- difficult not to smile at that. We took a 2.5 mile roundtrip hike early in the morning around the avocado groves and hills and inhaled the fresh, crisp mountain air. We saw hummingbirds, bees, coyotes, horses, and hawks. Quite a needed change of environment. We made it down to Santa Barbara, hopped around to different wine tasting spots at the "funk art district", visited art studios, ate lunch at Mony's Taquiera, and took a stroll on the wharf to watch the UCSB sailing team. We played one of our favorite tunes on the piano and later we practiced a tango routine. And to top it all off, although we never met in person, Jim & Eileen have hearts of gold that shined in every communication we had with them. When we returned home, our place was better than we had left it. We are quite simply raving fans and can't stop thinking and talking about our exchange with Jim & Eileen.
Our weekend exchange with Brittany and Jethro was perfect: their LA home was accurately described, convenient and central to really fun activity spots in greater LA/Hollywood/Westwood and comfortable. Coordinating with them was easy and a pleasure, and when we returned home, our place was as if we had never left. It is this type of effortless and total pleasurable exchange that makes Home Exchange so much fun. We highly recommend an exchange with Brittany and Jethro.
We stayed at Jim and Eileen’s guest house from July 10th to 14th. We agreed with on a hospitality exchange: we’ll be hosting their son and his girlfriend in the near future. We had such a pleasant surprise when arriving at their home. What a wonderful location, lots of plants, flowers, birds, hummingbirds, avocado trees and citrus groves, views of the ocean and stargazing at night. The guest house was very clean, comfortable and well decorated. Our hosts were more than welcoming. We enjoyed a lot their company and our many conversations. On our arrival, Jim invited us for a picnic and to see a free concert outdoors in the park. Days after, he drove us to Jalama beach, then we saw the "mundial" final altogether, and for the evening we shared an excellent meal. Totally recommend meeting them!
