We love outdoor living, exploring big cities and are generally curious to all new areas and experiences.
We had a wonderful exchange with this nice danish family. The appartment is cosy, convenient location, especially with the bikes which are availables. An ideal way to visit Copenhaguen. Children friendly. On the other side of the exchange, our appartment was left in a perfect state. We strongly recommend this place for sure.
In the christmas of 2008 we exchanged with this wonderful french family. Everything went perfect, and we even managed to meet at the airport. These people have a great and very charming aparment in a lovely part of Paris. It was a pleasure, and we even keep in touch now and then, as we might make another exchange some day. Very recommendable :-)
Our destination was Copenhagen , Denmark, a beautiful city indeed. The home and the neighbourhood. This family s home is warm and you will feel welcome. You can see that every corner of the house has been decorated with beautiful creations of the children and the parents and has a special vibe. It was neat and clean. The garden is just wonderful, always groomed, with activities for the kids, but you really have to catch the right weather, which has not been kind with us at all during our stay! The neighbourhood is the vibrant vesterbro, with its weird mixture of nice cafes , restaurants, bars and all kinds of people. Our stay at Copenhagen We stayed for a total of 11 days, during which, as mentioned before, the weather was rarely sunny. However, if you are well prepared with anoraks and umbrellas , which our hosts fortunately provided us with, you will find plenty of things to do. It is easy to walk in Copenhagen, or use your bicycle, as long as you are careful with other cyclists. There are many worthwhile things to see and do, as we found, like visit Tivoli, the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, statens Museum for Kunst, Rosenborg Slot, Christiania, Stroget for shopping etc. We also made excursions to Malmo, Helsingor, and the Luisiana Museum of Contemporary art. The means of transport in Copenhagen are good, however you have to be careful not to be in the wrong zone and to be patient if any mistakes occur with the trains. The people here are always keen on helping tourists and are always so kind! Our journey was a wonderful experience and we highly recommend you exchange homes with this family!
Christmas 2013 we (Dutch family with two children aged 6 and 2) changed homes with Morten, Mie and their children. We travelled to Copenhagen by car and Morten already arranged a parking permit for a week for us, so we could park the car right in front of the apartment without the hassle of arranging the permit when you’ve just arrived . The contact with the Visbech Madsen family was very friendly and they were always helpful in advance and while we were there. The apartment is beautifully located and lovely decorated. We felt at home right away. Morten and Mie left us Danish delights and there even was a present from their children to ours. Our children loved their rooms and the garden with the playground, which is surrounded by the building and therefor completely quiet. Information about the apartment was concrete and clear and we had no trouble at all finding our way. We also met a few neighbours who were all very willing to help and pointed out some really nice shops and places to visit. We used the family’s bikes to cycle through the city and that was a fun way to get to know the city especially with children. The apartment is in a nice part of the city with a lot of little vintage shops, Danish design, bakeries, places to eat or have a coffee and by foot or bicycle a lot of highlights are within reach. Morten and Mie pointed out some nice museums for us. Copenhagen is beautiful and the weather was good so we were able to spent a lot of time sightseeing. Because it was Christmas, on the 25th a lot of public places were closed, so we played some of Mie and Morten’s records which was a great trip down memory lane and the children played with the toys they left behind so we were all very happy. When we got home, our house was left behind in perfect state. It was clean and our cat was happy, so we were as well. They took very good care of him and our belongings and we are thankful and glad they enjoyed themselves as well. The home exchange with this family was heart-warming and a great success. Morten, Mie, Dagmar and Rebecca, thank you for this memorable experience!
In December 2013 we exchanged with Marc and Dieke and their two children, and spend our Christmas vacation in Breda, Holland. To be honest we did not know much about Breda prior to the exchange but we were very positively surprised. First of all is Marc and Dieke's patricia house a true charming pearl right by the river. So much atmosphere and we instantly felt at home. The neighbourhood we also liked very much. All houses in the surrounding area are also very well kept, charming and full of atmosphere. Although there was no snow for Christmas, it all added up to be a very cosy and Christmas-like experience. Not far from the house is are woods and bike trails, which we used for taking a run or a bike trip. The house is farely close to the center of Brada, and you can walk there in 10-15 min. Nice town, with many café's and shops, and few museums and a very beautiful cathedral. Regarding the all planning and communication with Marc and Dieke, everything also went perfect. They are friendly, helpful and left us some written material with many good tips about where to eat and activities (of which we only around to do a fraction of :-)) Our own apartment was also taken very good care of and all along we felt completely comfortable to leave out home to this family. I think a week staying in Breda was suitable, but for a longer exchange there are many good possibilities for visiting other cities, e.g. Antwerp in Belgium, Rotterdam or even Amsterdam. there are very good and frequent public transportation, so even without a car this could easily be done. So in conclusion we can highly recommend an exchange with this family and wish them many more exchanges in the future.
We stay in the flat of Morten and his nice family, in July 2014. The flat is very charming, bright and full equipped. The back yard is wonderful! The neighborhood is nice, silent, charming and very close to the train station, to Tivoli and city centre. You can reach the station with bike, put bike on the train and go everywhere in Denmark. Or you can go on the Orang bridge (only for bike) and reach the Harbor (great!) All of it is very close to the Morten's flat. Morten and his family were very welcoming to us. Also their neighbors. Thanks to them,we spent a beautiful time in Copenhagen. When they were in my flat, they left the flat clean and tidy.
Finally we made an exchange to beautiful Rome, and for the first time we tried a non-simultaneous exchange. We exchanged with Letizia and her family and everything went very smooth to our full satisfaction. First we spend a week in the Easter of 2014 in Rome, and then they came to Copenhagen for a little more than a week in the end of July and beginning of August. Coming to Rome, where we met Letizia and family, they were very welcoming and helpful. Also figuring out dates worked very well, and they even moved out of the apartment for 2 days and stayed with friend before going on their own vacation - very nice gesture I thought. The area of the apartment was very authentic, as we like it for exchanges. It was the "real" Rome away from the bustling tourist sites, and yet quite easy to reach the centre of Rome either with bus or tram (about 20-25 min). The neighbourhood we found very charming, with a few grocery shop, delicacies shops and cafes and pizza places of course. The apartment was very much as the pictures shows and was described. Perfect for a family of 4, and a nice big roof terrace with a charming view to the surrounding buildings, but still very private. The apartment was nice, clean and all worked perfectly. When the family was in Copenhagen they also left everything in good condition to our full satisfaction. So all in all a successful exchange, and I can recommend others who wish to see Rome to exchange with Letizia and family.
