We are Susan and Charles, recently retired. Our roots are in New York, but we have been in the Washington, DC area for many years where we built our careers. Charles was a public affairs executive with a concentration on international clients. Susan worked for the National Institutes of Health, the largest biomedical research institution in the world.
We have two grown children and four grandchildren, ages five to eleven. We are lucky that our family lives close by and we love to get together.
We have a wonderful, well behaved, little dog named Jack. He is predominantly poodle, loves to travel, and is a perfect gentleman when visiting other homes.
We enjoy reading, going to movies and art shows, hiking and biking. We love cooking and spending an evening gathered with friends.
We have traveled often to Italy, but have never had the time to really immerse ourselves sufficiently in the culture. Susan has been studying Italian for five years and is quite eager now to test her language skills. We are especially interested in exchanging in or close to Rome, but are open to other great Italian cities. We hope to find a well located residence (apartment or house) with at least two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a terrace or balcony, on a quiet street, that is near good fresh food markets, restaurants and transportation.
