Hello from Brooklyn!
We are a young married couple in our late-twenties, early thirties. We're interested in traveling all over, both to explore other cities and to escape into nature. We'd love to take spur-of-the-moment regional weekend trips to areas we can reach from NYC by bus or train.
We love learning about the history of the place we're visiting. Our main activity while traveling is visiting historic and architectural sites.
Marcus and Salome were terrific. We were even texting each other during the exchange, sharing the exciting things we were up to. While I've visited New York before, this was my first time staying in Brooklyn. It was great. It's a relatively short ride into Manhattan, and the area around the apartment is very quiet. I spent one entire day just walking around Prospect Park and the areas near the apartment which included lots of interesting things to see and a beautiful farmers' market. I really enjoyed how peaceful Prospect Park is--nowhere near the crowds found in Manhattan's Central Park. I can't believe I ran out of time to go to the Brooklyn museum! I'll definitely have to return.
We loved our stay at Wade's place in D.C.! Here's what made this exchange great: 1) Communicating and setting things up with Wade were friendly, easy, and reliable (Wade's a home exchange pro) 2) The apartment is spacious, has sweet furnishings, a luxurious bed, and is super clean and neat 3) The location is central for so many different D.C. experiences. Given that we're enthusiastic walkers, we were able to take lovely walks through various neighborhoods and cityscapes to the National Mall and monuments, Logan Circle and Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, the National Zoo and even Georgetown. Either way, the apartment is located right by a transportation hub, and the Circulator bus that passes right by there can take you where you want to go for $1.
We had a wonderful exchange experience with Marcus and Salome. From the beginning, communicating with them was pleasant and easy. Arrival and key pick-up was seamless, and we even found parking on the street, right in front of the apartment! The apartment was exactly as described and very clean, from top to bottom. The location is amazing. Within a 5 minute walk away, there are a number of great eateries for all tastes and budgets, as well as a couple small grocery stores and convenience stores. Great residential neighborhood, super safe at all times, and very close to practical subway stations (Eastern Parkway, Franklin and Grand Army). If you are looking to experience visiting Manhattan AND Brooklyn during your trip, this is definitely a great location. Ideally, I believe the apartment caters to a couple, but it can also accommodate a couple and a small child. Upon arriving back home, we found our place clean and orderly, just as how we left it. They were clearly very respectful of our space while they were here, and made sure to follow the instructions from our house guide. If the opportunity were to arise, I would exchange with Marcus and Salome again, in a heartbeat.
We had an ideal stay at Max and Sarah's home. Their place is beautifully set up, super clean and comfortable, and they are just steps from the Joliette metro station, which connected us within 15 mins to anything we wanted to see or do in Montreal. Coming from New York, we were so impressed by the ease, speed and comfort of the Montreal metro system - such fantastic access to the station is a huge plus for an active visit. We also enjoy longer walks and were able to walk from their place to La Fontaine Parc and to Old Montreal and Downtown. The whole Botanic Garden, Biodome, Planetarium complex - highly recommended - is just blocks from the house. Max and Sarah were fantastic people to exchange with. They are very responsible and serious home exchangers, and were so responsive and quick in our communications throughout the whole home exchange process. They thought of everything we needed for the exchange to happen without a hitch, and the house was perfectly prepared for our stay. Thanks for making our Montreal trip so easy and wonderful!
We had a great exchange with Marcus and Salome. Everything worked out as planned. It was very easy, no surprises and Marcus and Salome left our house in perfect condition. Thier apartment is in a really good location in Brooklyn, close to the subway, Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park etc., and only one or two blocks from interesting bars, local jazz venues and good grocery shopping.
