family leisure

We are curious and are happy to make our little girls expand their horizons. we like to see wonderful landscapes - even if it's urban ones, we like to make new friends, visit all there is to see, relax at the beach.
Of course we love wine & cheese but are also fond of all gastronomy elsewhere. Thibault is spelunking and plays piano, Florence is painting. Tell us about you!

We stayed in this modern, spacious and beautiful apartment during August of 2013 and enjoyed it tremendously. It is situated in a very nice neighborhood away from the tourist areas but close to bus and metro stops, so it's a very convenient base for touring the city. There are very good restaurants a short walk away, as well as the famous Pere Lachaise cemetery. The apartment occupies a full floor of its building, which offers a lot of privacy. We particularly loved the kitchen (very large and well equipped for a Paris apartment) and the two decks (also hard to find in Paris), especially the very large front deck, which enabled us to enjoy the great summer weather. We enthusiastically recommend this home for any length stay in Paris.

What we said about Lydia's house:

We were in Cape Neddick at Lydia's house for 3 weeks in August 2013. The house was beyond our expectations: large, beautiful, with a big garden, and close to the sea. You are 5 minutes walk to the first beach and 10 minutes drive to the top spots. Everything was well prepared and shiny when we arrived (and the fridge was full!) and we had an exquisite stay in Maine, and a great weather too! Definitely a place worth staying... Lydia and her family took really good care of our appartment. Thank you Lydia !

What we said about Charlotte Dimitri et Maé's house:

Our home exchange vacation to Paris exceeded expectations in every way!!! Unbelievable. This was our first home exchange, and Thibault and Florence were so extremely helpful. We learned a lot from them and will be using similar methods for future exchanges. Their hospitality is great, and such a nice couple with a beautiful family. In addition to a successful home exchange, we feel we became friends and will stay in touch in the future. We anticipate visiting Paris again, and when we do, we will definitely be reaching out the Thibault and Florence for either a 2nd home exchange, a meal between the families, or a casual get together. As for Thibault and Florence’s home, it is great: bright, sunny, airy, and well designed. The kitchen is very large with quality appliances, larger than normal European Fridge/Freezer, and a great island in which we congregated about in mornings and nights. Loved the kitchen! Kitchen opened into a large family room overlooking the large sunny deck, excellent! Comfortable furniture and wide open layout as the large kitchen looks directly to the family room and outside front porch. There is another porch on the backside of the house which we did not use as much, but when opening windows and doors on both the front and back porches, we got a great air flow through the home. Having porches on both sides of the home with large windows made the home very bright and sunny, was great to come home to after touring the City and surrounding areas. The home also has 2 bed and 2 bath, all very well designed. There is a super large tub in the master bedroom and a very large shower in the main bathroom. There is also a separate toilet room offering a 2nd toilet, which was very convenient as we travelled with a group of five (5) people. We never felt cramped in the apartment as we had such great space. Very large and comforting. And it is in close proximity to all neighborhood boulangeries, fromageries, boucheries, and normal grocery stores. As for the neighborhood, it is in the 20th arrondissements and not the touristy area. And we loved it! Not a single souvenir shop around, yet everyone was happy to communicate. I knew a little French and could get by, and the locals seemed to appreciate my trying to speak and communicate in French. Loved the local places we bought our food from, with a grocery store to close by to fill in all other needs. The cheese, the wine, the meat, the bread, all from the local economy (and in August), unbelievable… A memorable experience for our family that we will forever treasure. Public transit is readily available and there is a direct bus line from the home to the Eiffel Tower (#69 bus) and on the route, it passes most major attractions. We used the 69 bus very much. As well as the #3 Metro. Very easy and got all around Paris on public transit, but if preferring a cab, they too were readily accessible. During our trip we visited the towns of Rouen and Bayeux and used Airbnb to stay in local homes in the area. By far without any comparison, Thibault and Florences’s home was the one we were happy to call home. The others were nice and in great locations, but when returning back to Paris, it was nice to come home to a bright, roomy, airy, well-designed home. For our time there, it truly felt like home. Writing this review makes me want to go back… Such a memorable time. With great hosts that I very much enjoyed getting to know and look forward to keeping in touch with. They are good people. A pleasure to have exchanged with them. Am now ready to schedule our family’s next exchange, with the question is, where being? Love the home exchange. Thank you Thibault and Florence for everything! We learned so much from you and enjoyed thoroughly being your company!!! Talk to you soon!!!! - Christian and Catherine Mellon

What we said about Christian Mellon's house:

We had a wonderful exchange : an exquisite family, an amazing house and extraordinary city. Catherine and Christian are such great people. It was very easy to connect and arrange everything. They took really great care of our place (we found our apartment pristine) and their kids are so cute. We will for sure stay in touch with them : we really got along and had so much fun together at the beginning and the end of the trip. Our kids and theirs, also not speaking the same language had fun also. Christian and Catherine house is located in a wonderful neighborhood in Old Town, 10 minutes walk to the best beach (with a great view on the skyline), and very close to the loop by bus or metro. It is really a wonderful spot to visit all the city without using a car. The place is also very close to the marvelous lincoln park hosting a free zoo perfect for kids. On wednesdays farmers market takes place there too, with all kind of local organic products. Just around the house a lot of trendy bars and restaurants, grocery stores with everything you can need (even European and exotic food), a pharmacy and so on. The house is inside a private lane making it very safe and quiet. All the neighbors of the lane were very excited to have French neighbors and prove very welcoming and helpful : we never felt alone or lost. The house itself was made super welcoming by the Mellons with all the baby stuff we needed : thanks again, and to their neighbors. It comes with 3 floors + the basement + a huge and amazing terrace on the roof : there was more space than we could ever need. 4 bathrooms, as many toilets, baths and showers everywhere ! The master suite is like a 5 stars hotel ! Kids bedroom had a lot of toys...all the amenities are wonderful : the American way of life at his best. All appliances you need is here, stylish and modern furniture and decoration. On the terrace, a thousand flowers or a barbecue are expecting you every day if you feel like an escape from the city. We exchanged cars during the trip and really thougt it was very convenient. As for Chicago, it is really a huge and terrific city with an amazing architecture, plenty of stuff to visit, restaurants, bars with music and a relaxed athmosphere. Add the beach to it and you have the perfect place for either a family looking for fun or a couple looking for a romantic escape. An A++ graded exchange that we would easily recommend to anyone around the globe. Thank you so much Catherine and Christian : we will keep in touch !

Thibault and Florence's home was perfect. It is modern, clean, comfortable, and stylish. We loved the neighborhood - great cafes, restaurants, boulangeries, and right on one of the best bus routes in the city (the ride into the center was a treat each time we took it - it was like being on a sight-seeing bus). We also loved coming home in the evening and enjoying a film, selected from their personal catalogue and projected onto the wall in big-screen fashion. But most of all, we appreciated their family and warm, gracious personalities. Their children are delightful, and Thibault and Florence are kind, thoughtful, and interesting. They showed us around their neighborhood, then left us to settle in. We were also able to arrange an overlap in Vietnam, so we had a day and night with them here and it was like seeing old friends. If you get the chance to stay at this home, you should take it immediately. It is not in the center of Paris, but it is an easy trip in, and the authentic non-touristy neighborhood and wonderful hosts make it the perfect place to stay.
