Welcome to our wonderful city....
My name is Barbra and my husband is Ron. We are educators--I am an early care and education consultant and Ron is a kindergarten/1st grade teacher. We have two children, a 14 year old son, and a 12 year old daughter who still love to play and be kids! Both are very good students academically and socially. Our son has many extracurricular interests, especially sports, music and building. Our daughter is very creative who can sew and keep up with her brother on the basketball and tennis court. As a family, we enjoy music, games, restaurants, SF culture, outdoor activities, reading, museums and biking.
Our house is well equipped for fun--Wii, kid and adult bikes, skateboard, guitar, trampoline, basketball net, skates, games, toys, art/crafts, scooters etc. and there are many neighborhood playgrounds, tennis/basketball courts etc. as well. We will take great care of your home and want people who will also treat our home with respect, care and show responsibility.
We have had ten successful home exchanges--Amsterdam twice, Tahoe, Napa, Austin twice, Copenhagen, Victoria, Portland and Stockholm that went splendidly and look forward to more fun adventures!

We visit Tahoe often and particularly love spending a week there in summer for water play and winter for the snow.
What a good time we had in this house in San Francisco! It was our first exchange and we really liked it. We felt at home right away and appreciated the welcoming basket and the nice drawings. The house is spacious yet cozy and had everything we needed: computer, good wifi, games, trampoline in the garden, plenty of (basket)balls to play with, a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture and nice neighbors. Everything and more for a great exchange! All the beds are very good and the updated bathroom is beautiful. The manual was complete and contained a lot of good tips especially on restaurants, shops and the farmers' market on Sunday. The fact that there were have bikes (and a nice neighbor we could lend the extra bike from!) was definitely a plus for us. Also, to have a car at our disposal was very convenient. We like the neighborhood because it is safe, quiet, close to the beach and GG Park. Our kids played basketball in the street and soccer on the beach and in GG Park. And with the N-line only one block away, going downtown was a breeze. We can recommend this house for future exchanges because we felt very much at home.
Regarding our experience in the wonderful village and home in Duivendrecht: Well insulated, solid and spacious house, Beautiful garden with excellent barbecue and seating, Fabulous, friendly and helpful neighbors on both sides, Games, balls and bikes, Well stocked kitchen, Great lighting, Clean and organized house, Safe and beautiful neighborhood, Train/Metro, stores, parks close by, Beautiful landscaped town, mirroring English gardens not to mention sheep nearby, Good computer/printer/wifi use, Black out shades and fans helpful since it was warm and it stays light until 11 PM, Great beds, nice furnishings and design flow, Helpful manual, full of "off the beaten track" activities and restaurants, Family is extremely helpful and communicative via email/text, Great, dependable car and GPS was invaluable, Super nice and friendly family that we felt totally comfortable with, We had everything we needed and more! We would definitely exchange again (in fact, my son already requested it!) because we love the location being close but not right in the heart of the city, in a wonderful house and with a fabulous family!
We enjoyed the exchange with Barbra and her family very much. Lovely home with a lay back garden, a big trempoline, ideally located beside the Golden Gate park and easy access ot the city center. Thank you so much for the friendly exchange we enjoyed every minute of it!
Matthew was a great exchanger since he was friendly, courteous and communicative. He and his family stayed at our home for the week and took great care of it. He wrote to me promptly with questions and replied quickly when I wrote. His house is very clean, comfortable and modernized (newer floors, kitchen, bathroom etc.) with all the amenities needed. Great location to walk to restaurants, shops and downtown as well as leisurely river walks. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely yet near enough to the action and freeway. I highly recommend exchanging with Matthew if you want to enjoy the sights and sounds of Austin in a lovely, comfortable home.
This is a lovely two-story home in the Outer Sunset neighborhood with a sweet backyard. We loved the proximity to the Academy of Sciences and other museums and attractions in Golden Gate Park. It's also a quick drive to the Presidio and Fort Point (great for views of the Golden Gate Bridge and surfing), so you can also get in a beach day. There's lots of incredible eateries at budget prices, all within walking distance you cab get Vietnamese noodle shop, get sushi, Chinese, Thai etc. Barbra and her family are vets with exchanges! I felt very lucky to an exchange with them. They had a binder with suggestions for places to eat and visit and well as how to use everything in the house. They even have their recycling labeled and remotes. She and her husband went out of their way in ways too numerous to mention, to make this the kind of vacay my family truly appreciated. The house was in lovely shape when we got back and because they had brought another family with them, they even left us money for a housekeeper. So thoughtful. A perfect exchange!
This was one of the most fabulous exchanges we've had! Hillary was extremely communicative, helpful and hospitable. From the beginning, she answered all questions promptly, gave us great "insider" tips (even left us movie passes!) and told me everything I'd need to know so we could function with ease in their beautiful home. Their home is very spacious, well decorated yet comfortable and the deck with views (not to mention pool and play yard) was simply wondrous. From their house, you can walk, bike or take a short drive and access downtown, hiking, biking and wineries in minutes. It's the best of both worlds since it's quiet and peaceful at home yet minutes from any activity you'd want to access in beautiful Napa. Upon return to our own home, they had managed to wash all sheets and towels, make the beds and run the vacuum. Hillary really went the extra mile for us. That really made this exchange not just very good for me and my family, but something special that will be remembered.
Exchanging with Barbra and Ron couldn't have been easier. Their home, just a block from fabulous Golden Gate Park was nicely decorated and super-comfortable and they provided us with bicycles and a car to readily explore the area. The house is just a short block and a half from the Muni line into downtown and is walking distance to some great restaurants in the "little Chinatown" around and along Irving Street in the Sunset. SF can be foggy in July so having the car to take a short hop to the heat and sunshine of Sonoma, Napa or Berkeley was great and really appreciated. Barbra is a wonderful communicator: responsive, super-organized, and easy to chat with, by phone or via email. She answered all of our questions immediately, both before and during the exchange when we needed help, and she provided great resources and suggestions of where to go, what to see and where to eat in SF and around the area. She makes exchanging easy and fun!
Karen's custom-built home is lovely, with warm wood floors and furnishings and a big kitchen with ALL the bells and whistles. Loved the master bathroom too, especially the nice big tub. And the location is simply incredible, high up overlooking miles of Victoria's south shoreline, with panoramic views of sea, and beyond to the Olympic peninsula. A very picturesque home in a very picturesque town. Karen was an incredible communicator, always responding to questions or comments and helping us navigate when we needed help. She was a gracious host who cleared space in drawers, made tasty sorbet for us to enjoy and purchased delicious local wine and cider to drink. Also, Karen's restaurant recommendations were spot-on! We couldn't have asked for a better exchange partner and home!
Our very first exchange was with Barbra and Ron. Their home in San Francisco was perfect for us. There was plenty of room, it is nicely decorated and is warm and comfortable. The location worked well for us as we frequented Golden Gate Park with our young children and the neighborhood was walking friendly and safe. They were gracious with the use of anything we wanted and the communication with them was frequent and friendly. There was a great deal of local information and pamphlets available and their instructions for the home was well thought out and thorough. They took very good care of our home and would be welcomed back anytime. We highly recommend an exchange with this lovely family.
Joanna and Steve's Craftsman-style home in NE Portland is spacious, well-appointed and comfortable! We especially loved the big porch and deck. Also, the kitchen is very user-friendly. We enjoyed walking to the very good restaurants and brewpubs nearby, not to mention the old-fashioned bakery. And our kids enjoyed playing across the street in the schoolyard, as well as in the nearby park. The Columbia river gorge was also easily accessed from here--gorgeous scenery! They were wonderful communicators, always responding to texts or emails quickly. They were fabulous hosts who shared things with us like coffee, coupons and great tips for restaurants. We loved exchanging with such thoughtful, kind and friendly people in their glorious home!
