- Benno Researcher (51)
- Petra Sales manager (52)
Bonjour from Paris!
Petra is a sales manager for a German company, and Benno leads a research group at a renowned French biomedical research institute. Our daughter (Nora, born 2005) will treat your house with respect – all of us are non-smokers (you're always welcome to smoke on the deck). Our two gentle Korat cats who stay with our house have become best friends with our previous home exchange friends!
31 08 2010 Florence Italy It was our first experience and it was extremely positive. We really felt home since the very beginning. The hospitality was great, really great, with a lot of little (and big) things thought just for the guest. The house is very beautiful, practical and comfortable. The city is quite close by and we could visit a lot of museums and really feel a little bit "parisienne". The family was very friendly, the sons well educated and clean and indeed we found back our house in a better state than when we had left it. I would recommend everybody an exchange with them. Indeed a very high grade of "exchange culture", with order, availability, openess, precision and so on all on a very high level.
We think back about this exchange very fondly. Friendly, open and courteous communication from the beginning and always very pleasant personal contact with our host, who took a maximum of care and consideration so that we wouldn't miss anything during our vacation - and we didn't. The apartment was functional and large enough to accommodate the five of us easily, equipped with everything necessary, located centrally and close to the beach, yet quiet, with easy access to the major sights of Tuscany. When we returned home, everything was in perfect shape. In summary, this was one pleasure all around. Many thanks!!!
It was our first experience with homeexchange and it was a great experience. We really felt home " in Paris " from the moment we arrived at Gare de l'Est. Benno told us (we're a family of 5) how to get to their home by metro/RER and it was easy going. Our kids enjoyed the way from the house to the RER station and travelling with the Metro. The hospitality was great. Our kids felt home in "their" rooms, and we too. To take care for the two cats was easy, they're really friendly. We travelled to all sights and tourists points by RER/metro, it was a great experience, and special at the rush hour. After arriving home, it's sure, we will do homeexchange again. Thank you, Benno and Petra, for our wonderful week in Paris
We spent a delightful week in late October 2012 in Andrea and Thorsten's home. Their modern house is in a residential area, with a supermarket in walking distance. It is spacious and nicely furnished; the dining area and living rooms have a nice view into their garden, and we enjoyed the closed fireplace. Our daughter loved to play with their two gentle cats. We found everything we needed, and more -- although this was their first exchange, Andrea and Thorsten thought of everything we might need; they even prepared sweets for kids on Halloween! We followed one of the trip suggestions in their specially prepared folder, and made a beautiful walk along a river in the nearby "Altes Land". Moreover, Hamburg (a 30-45 minute drive away) had lots to see and do -- we didn't really have time to explore enough. Communication with Andrea and Thorsten was always excellent, making our visit easy to plan, and easy when we were there. Their family treated our house with a lot of respect and care, too. Overall, we heartily recommend this exchange! And many thanks Andrea and Thorsten!
We have just returned from our first every home exchange. We spent two and a half weeks in Paris and we loved it. As it was out first swap we were nervous but Benno and Petra made us feel welcome from the moment we met them in Orly airport. We were concerned at having another family in our home but they emailed us almost daily and any little mishaps were dealt with immediately. For example when our little dog was not feeling well they took her to the vet and informed us of the situation. Our house in Spain was left at least as clean as it had been when we left it and our concerns that they may have sold our house and/or set it on fire were unfounded!! We stayed in Perreux sur Marne which is a cute little suburb of Paris. The town was quiet as we travelled in August and many of the restaurants were closed. Paris is an expensive city anyway so did much of our dining at home. We travelled to the city centre most days and our little boy loved the parks in particular. Like everyone, we had heard that the French can be difficult- we met some great people and have to say they were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The house was fully loaded- We had computers, Vita mix juicer, wonderful coffee machine, and everything else we needed. We swapped cars and once I got the Garmin into a language I understood, driving was surprisingly easy there. We got a Toyota station wagon and we used one tank of diesel in the whole two weeks. Parking is free in Paris in August- a nice bonus! Bottom line is ... after our first exchange, we are already looking to book up our Christmas trip. We highly recommend Home Exchange, our host family and the wonderful, vibrant, romantic, mystical city of Paris.
We spent wonderful 2 1/2 weeks in this home, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The spacious, clean, fully equipped (and round!) house, with its large pool, nice surroundings, and its proximity to the beach (5 minutes if you don't run) made it a unique stay for our family of five, with two parents being able to visit additionally for one week. We felt like movie stars! And the kids had loads of fun with Messi, their über-gentle dog. Ian, Lynne, and Finn returned our own house in better shape than we had left it! Communication was exemplary. They took very good care of our two cats, and generously and immediately helped us out from a mishap during the exchange, even though this was their very first time. What a nice experience! Overall, both in terms of the wonderful house and the friendly, open, available, and helpful hosts, we strongly recommend this exchange.
The exchange with Petra, Benno and their kids was like winning the lottery! A comfortable and very friendly home, combined with very caring hosts and the metropolis of lovely Paris: You can't ask for anything more! Like many people before we can only recommend this family without any reservations! Trank you very much Petra & Benno for this great holidays
Hi Petra & Benno, we've had wonderful two weeks in your lovely and spacious house: we enjoyed the lovingly furnished rooms, slept very well in the comfortable beds, used lots of the handy equipement in your great kitchen, spend some good time on the crosstrainer (even lost a few grams ;-)) and in the nice garden and had much fun with your two cats - especially Fang Mir (what a name...) was trustful from the first moment, and our two sons loved to play with him. Le Perreux-sur-Marne is an ideal location for exploring Paris. It combines the nearness to the great town Paris (everything can be reached within a short time with the RER and the Metro) with the amenities of a little town apart from the hurly-burly of the metropolis. It has nice shops and restaurants - we particularly enjoyed the crêperie around the corner and the farmer's market -, friendly people all around and everything we needed for taking a break from our touristical activities. The contact with you was absolutely straightforward and exceptionally friendly. You took care of our house and garden - even of our son's vegetable patch - in an exemplary manner and left everything in a very good state. Thank you so much for this great exchange! Greetings, Karsten & Anke
Thank you Anke and Karsten for the wonderful two weeks in the summer of 2015 we had in Fischerhude. Your house was spacious even for the five of us. My parents, who are in their 70s, felt very well, too, saying that rarely they slept so well. We all enjoyed your spacious kitchen, the 2 sunny decks to choose from, and the practical suggestions for activities. Our daughter loved the go-cart, and we enjoyed your nice bikes for shorter outings around the house. Fischerhude is a small village with a bakery, great alternative food store, and nice restaurants; not to forget Lindenlaub’s ice cream! There is a lot to do in the area: North Sea and the Baltic Sea coasts are a fairly short trips away, we did see the Karl May show in Bad Segeberg, our trips to Helgoland and Bremerhaven were memorable. Bremen and Hamburg are not far either and are good day trips. Last but not least, our contact with you was lovely from A to Z. It is clear that you cared a lot about our well-being, and when we returned we found that you had taken extra-good care of our house with the cats and the fish. Thanks so much again for a wonderful exchange — way to go Fischerhude! —Benno, Petra & Co.
