- Thomas artistic director of a theatre company
"Hallo" from Amsterdam.
Hi, I am Henriette and I’m 44 years old. I work as a independent Pilates teacher, but also as head of the Marketing & PR department of a theatre company. I truly enjoy my work!
I like traveling and exploring. When I was 19 I travelled as an exchange student through South Africa for six weeks. When I was 30, I travelled around the world with my former husband for 10 months.
In my spare time I love to go to the theatre, see a film or go to a museum. I also like to have dinners at good restaurants with my friends, where we talk about life, art and philosophy. I travel with my partner Thomas. He is the director of a theatre company, he teaches drama at the Amsterdam school of arts, and is an actor, singer and writer. We are responsible, non smoking people and we respect peoples values ánd valuables. I must admit however, I’m very good with people and animals, but plants that need very special care are not very safe in my hands. We like food from all over the world and are interested in art, architecture and music.

Henriette's apartment in the Nieuwmarkt area of Amsterdam was the perfect place to stay and enjoy everything (literally everything) Amsterdam has to offer. It is very spacious, open and comfortable, exactly like the photographs depict. The private backyard was an amazing addition, too, as we ate every breakfast and some dinners outside in the leafy, quiet, large yard. Grocery stores (both natural/organic and conventional) are located nearby, so it was easy to save a little money by eating meals at the apartment. Both Thomas and Henriette were extremely helpful with suggestions for things to do, where to eat around both the neighborhood and the city on the whole. Public transportation of every kind (tram, subway, and boat) is located steps away from the apartment--as is the daily Waterlooplein Market (our kids' favorite place to hang out). Scenic, iconic canals are located just a block or two from the apartment in any direction, so it is perfectly situated to really get a feel for the city (and far preferable to some of the more loud and touristy sections of town, which you can just walk to in minutes when you want to experience). Bike rental is the way to go for getting everywhere (you can be across town at museums in ten minutes, and in the countryside in an hour or two)--and there are several places to rent, also really close to the apartment. (Plus there's a bike room in the building, so you can bring your wheels in for the night). Or you can walk--pretty much the whole city is within a 15-20 minute walk of the neighborhood. Apartment was clean upon arrival; linens were great, master bathroom was amazingly comfortable--especially the bathtub! Also Henriette and Thomas left our apartment in New York clean and tidy when they left it after their stay. Good people and place; it was a perfect exchange overall, and you won't go wrong if you work it out to stay in this cool apartment and central neighborhood (loved the history of the building, too). -Theo (Listing #356715)
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely NY apartment. I's very cosy, not big (which is normal for NY), but definitely big enough for the two of us. And has a treasure in the back; a lovely garden where you can have breakfast in the morning sun.The neighborhood is my new most favorite neighborhood in the city. It has little 'one of a kind' shops, lot's of very nice restaurants in every price range, the best cocktailbar ever, lot's of bookshops and coffeebars and it's very green and save (they made a list of all their favorite places to eat, drink coffee etc. which was fantastic). Theo, Allison and their two girls stayed in my apartment and when I got home everything was well kept, the girls even made some nice drawings for me! I would absolutely recommend staying in this apartment and home exchange with Theo and Allison. It has been my best stay in NY ever. Henriette (listing #391133)
Our exchange with Henriette and Thomas was just great. Both are very friendly, reliable und sympathetic. The apartment is just...WOW! Huge, stylish and perfectly located. If you have the opportunity to make an exchange with Henriette you seriously should not miss this opportunity!!! Diana & Constantin
In december 2103 we exchanged with Diana and Constantin in Berlin. Their house is located in such a great area (Prenzlauerberg), near a square (Helmhotzplatz) with lots of eclectic café's and restaurants. The house is light and spacious and there is a huge bathtub! The communication with Diana and Constantin was very nice and easy going, they are reliable people and took great care of my house. If you want to spent time in Berlin, this is a lovely place to stay. I would definitely recommend it! Henriette

Henriette and Thomas have a lovely apartment in the heart of Amsterdam. Our stay there was simply the best. The house is fully equiped and beautifully furnished. Sincerely, if the weather doesn't help in the city, staying at home cooking or just reading a book is a luxury experience. They gave us lots of good advices to enjoy Amsterdam and we took advantage of them. It is, in sum, the most romantic trip we have ever had. At the same time, the apartment is very well located and you can easily move from there by bike everywhere in the city. In the other hand they took care of our apartment during their stay in San Sebastian and the relationship between us has been very confident and confortable all the time. We strongly reccomend to make a home exchange with Henriette and Thomas. .
We felt right at home and the whole family enjoyed both the flat and the large garden in the heart of Amsterdam. And the location is great indeed: so close to the center and directly connected to many trams that bring you to all the tourist (and less touristic) places in a jiffy. And to finish it all, our guest was very attentive and helpful all the way. in a few words: We had a perfect stay at henriette's place and we thank her for that!
