Come and enjoy our peaceful home with its amazing lake views!
Hi! We are Debbie and Larry and we are adventurers in our 50's who have been blessed with good health and retirement. We have a lovely home in Granite Bay with fabulous views of Folsom Lake. We are "empty nesters" and no longer have pets so we are flexible with travel dates. We love hiking, cycling, boating, skiing, everything outdoors! We lived in England for several years and traveled extensively returning to the United States wanting to see more of America; however, we are always eager to return to Europe. We love our home and its location and find it very difficult to leave but we so enjoy discovering new areas, living as locals. We have been vacation renters for years and would be respectful of your home and belongings. We most often travel alone but occasionally would like to have another retired couple of friends or our Mother join us. We are non-smokers and our home is a non-smoking environment. We travel light and leave no footprints.

Oahu, Maui, Kauai, just about any time of year! We go to enjoy the warm breezes, hiking and diving. You live in a very desirable tropical paradise. That's why we love to visit! Come see, explore and enjoy OUR paradise!

Need a short or extended escape from the busy city? We are interested in spending three nights or longer exploring new adventures in a city we love but only know as tourists. Can we interest you in a break from the noise of the city for some time at our peaceful retreat?
Need a short or extended escape from the tourists? We are interested in a change of scenery for five nights or longer in order to explore new adventures (and revisit past adventures) in your area. Can we interest you in a break from the crowds of the tourist seasons or fog for a relaxing holiday in our usually sunny, peaceful retreat?
We would love to visit the National Parks around Utah and Colorado. We are looking for a home base to take one or two day trips from.

If you enjoy warm weather, long days, and swimming in a beautiful lake just minutes from home, we have the place for you! Our California summers are too warm for these two Pacific Northwesterners so we would gladly exchange our beautiful, peaceful retreat for your cooler temperatures anywhere in the world!

We are passionate about the outdoors and wildlife.
We were privileged to be Deb & Larry's first exchangers and to have the pleasure of meeting them in San Francisco on their way to our home in UK. The house in Granite Bay is extremely comfortable and very nicely appointed with quality fittings and nothing at all of of place. Outside there is a really super deck overlooking the lake and also a great spa for a relaxing soak. It is very private but not at all isolated. The humming birds an absolute delight. A massive range of shops are a short drive away. Of course from there Yosemite and Reno are quite easy trips or Las Vegas a shortish plane ride away. We had a super time there meeting neighbours and Deb's sister and brother in law. In fact we all had such a blast we are doing it all again next year! Brilliant exchange and we have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Granite Bay and especially Deb & Larry to you as new friends. Thank you!
We had our first Home Exchange with Shane and Lindy from 6/12/14 to 7/3/14. Weir Cottage , their charming home in Fordingbridge is located within the New Forest of Hampshire in Southern England. This historical area proved to be ideal for the hikes, cycle rides and area explorations we had hoped to enjoy. Their home, a charming thatched roof cottage, was everything they had advertised it to be and so much more; clean, well appointed and extremely comfortable. The bi-fold doors in the living room provided us outdoor living while indoors, with a view of their beautifully manicured gardens. The home is surrounded by a peaceful garden paradise yet surprisingly close to town (less than five hundred steps from the door to the grocery store!) Shane and Lindy’s neighbors, David and Jane, were friendly and helpful. Shane and Lindy are gracious hosts, have loads of Home Exchange experience, and mentored us to a successful and thoroughly enjoyable first exchange. It was such a wonderful experience that we’ve agreed to a repeat next year!
We had a wonderful time at the gorgeous home of Debbie and Larry! The views were beautiful, the home immaculate and beautifully designed, and we fully enjoyed the wonderful back deck and spa in the mornings and evenings. Old Sacramento was a treat, and morning hikes around the lake are lovely. Debbie and Larry were very easy to work with, left our home in perfect condition, and we would definitely exchange with them again!
We had the great pleasure of a weekend exchange with Karin, Eric, and Charlie. Their beautiful home in San Francisco was in the perfect location for exploring the area parks: Golden Gate, the Presidio, Crissy Field and Lands End and Coastal Trail to name a few, all within walking distance! We brought our bikes and cycled all around these areas, even crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and traveling down to Sausalito. The large garage offered us secure parking and a safe place to store our bikes. The bedrooms are large and comfortable, as are the bathrooms. We chose to sleep in the guest bedroom as it looked out into the lovely garden with its lemon tree and beautiful hydrangeas. The kitchen was large and we had everything needed to prepare our own meals. Arguello Market, a short walk from the house, was the perfect little market to get the groceries we wanted. The atrium in the center of the house had a Mediterranean feel that allowed fresh air and light throughout the house, in addition to a comfortable place to enjoy morning tea or a meal. We highly recommend this home for anyone wanting to tour the best San Francisco has to offer.
Granite Bay, California When you drive up to Debby and Larry’s house, it is immediately apparent that great care and good taste have gone into every aspect of house and garden. Entering through a quiet Zen like courtyard, the front door opens to a distant view of the lake. It is a pristine environment, comfortable and inviting. Because of warm weather we often found ourselves on the back patio, for morning tea, meals, and enjoying the view of lake and distant mountains. The living room, kitchen and master suite all have the same expansive view. The neighborhood is low key, and quiet, but a mile away there is ample shopping. Debbie and Larry provide detailed information regarding all aspects of the house and use of it’s amenities. All communication with them as the exchange developed was thoughtful, caring and prompt so that though we have never met, a comfortable familiarity developed. Thank you Debby and Larry for a memorable stay in your lovely home.
The Carmel area is truly a magical place to visit and even more so when experienced from this beautiful home of a local artist! Joan’s home is tastefully decorated with some of her own work, comfortably furnished and sits on the side of a hill with magnificent views of the green hillsides of Carmel Valley. Though not at all remote, it has a feel of complete privacy. The gardens are filled with fragrant, colorful flowers visited often by hummingbirds and butterflies. We enjoyed our tea from the back patio on warm mornings and from the comfortable living room sofa on cooler mornings. Most of the windows are screened and when opened allowed a nice breeze to flow through the house with the occasional tinkling music of her wind chimes. Every day we took advantage of the fantastic hiking, cycling, and kayaking the area offers, however never getting around to leaving until almost noon! It’s a very relaxing atmosphere we found too difficult to leave. Thank you Joan and Rick for a very enjoyable experience!
We just spent a wonderfully relaxing weekend in one of the nicest homes we’ve ever stayed in through home exchange…and we’ve stayed in some nice ones. The minute we walked in we were embraced by a feeling of zen calm, which coming from bustling San Francisco, was exactly what we were looking for. The furnishings, rugs and light fixtures are extremely tasteful. A wall of windows and large deck with a hot tub look out over a panoramic view of Folsom Lake, adding to the natural aesthetic. The kitchen is spacious, has everything you need, and has a wonderful view of the lake. The master bedroom is large, has a king Tempur Pedic mattress which is a dream to sleep on, and is adjoined by a media room with a large flat screen TV. Our hosts provided us with bikes and a pass to tour the nearby state park where we enjoyed the surrounding forest and swimming in the lake. A nearby Raley’s grocery store made shopping for wine, healthy and delicious food a piece of cake. This is one of those places and our hosts are one of those couples that you put into the “We’d Love to Come Back Column.” A memorable home exchange for sure.
We had the pleasure of spending a long three-day weekend at Laura & Michael’s gorgeous San Francisco home. Perfectly situated in the prestigious neighborhood of Pacific Heights, just steps from Presidio National Park, their home provided us an elegant yet comfortably cozy base to enjoy after our sightseeing adventures. We took our bicycles along with us and easily cruised through Presidio Park over the Golden Gate Bridge, down to Sausalito, and over to Tiburon where after a delightful lunch took the ferry back to Pier 41 and rode “home” where we could relax taking in a movie in the comfy living room. The apartment is large and is situated such that natural light is always spilling in. The kitchen is spacious and provides everything needed for preparing delicious meals and then enjoying the view of the city’s east side. The house was clean and beautifully decorated with antiques, comfortable lounging furniture and a fabulous variety of original art. And what made it even more successful is that they took such great care of our home and enjoyed their stay as well. We are absolutely delighted that we can look forward to a repeat of this fantastic exchange!
Thank you Debbie and Larry for opening your home to an exchange with us. We really loved your beautiful, peaceful home. We enjoyed biking, hiking and running the local trails and we especially enjoyed the motorcycle ride to Auburn. You live in such a lovely part of the world - we were delighted by the variety of fresh produce and the tasty food at your local restaurants. We've returned home more relaxed and fit than we've been in some time. Most importantly, in getting to know you we made new friends, which is a wonderful consequence of a successful house exchange. Elizabeth and Henry
When we received an invitation to exchange from Debbie and Larry, we knew we had to accept this offer and stay in their gorgeous peaceful home! We exchanged some emails and had a conference call to sort out some details. Then we agreed on dates and times and got ready to mail keys and leave cars at airport lots. Debbie and Larry were always available and responsive to our needs and questions. Their home was just lovely, exactly as represented in the photos, and the California weather cooperated beautifully in October for us. We spent a few days in Granite Bay. We explored Sacramento, visited the downtown and the wonderful Crocker Art Museum. Next we headed out by car to Yosemite for 3 days and 2 nights. We came back for a few peaceful days in Granite Bay. The lake, the birds, the amazing quiet and calm of the neighborhood are all remarkable. Then we flew on down to visit some family in Los Angeles before returning to rainy Seattle! Debbie and Larry left our house cleaner than we'd left it, and we felt pleased to have gotten to know such a nice couple. They took great care of our house and car. We highly recommend this exchange- this part of California is well worth exploring. I'll attach this picture of myself and Clyde outside the house. Many thanks to Debbie and Larry for the great vacation- Shelley and Clyde
We had the great pleasure of visiting Seattle, one of our favorite cities, from this home which was in the perfect place for us to enjoy all our old haunts, and to visit a few new ones! Clyde and Shelley’s home was located in one of the most elegant and safe neighborhoods of the Seattle area. It was conveniently located close to the 520 floating bridge and within minutes of downtown Seattle, Lake Union, and Bellevue. We used to live in the Seattle area so we didn’t visit all the typically wonderful things to do in Seattle like the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Experience Music Project, the Pacific Science Center, Tillicum Village, etc. but we did drive up to Anacortes and enjoy a hike in Washington Park, visited the Fremont Troll, and took a ferry ride to Friday Harbor of the San Juan Islands. But we didn’t have to get in the car to enjoy some of the best hikes within walking distance such as the beautiful Washington Park Arboretum and Volunteer Park. Clyde and Shelley were great about keeping in contact with us and the arrangements we made getting car keys to each other and picking up the cars at the airport went without a hitch. Their lovely home was spacious and filled with interesting items they picked up from all their exotic travels. We had a lovely time in their home and wouldn’t hesitate to go again.
