- Peter retired
Recently we stayed with Peter and Valerie in their lovely apartment in Portsmouth, prior to this our son and daughter in law along with our two young grandsons stayed in Peter and Valerie's London apartment for 3 nights. Peter and Valerie made us so welcome, taking us out for dinner, showing us around Portsmouth, through the historic dockyards and even taking us out to see the new forest. In return Peter and Valerie will stay in our house in Auckland and our Tairua beach house later in the year. This clearly illustrates just how flexible home exchange can be and how friendships can develop across the world between people that would normally never meet. It allows the experience of seeing a country with the benifit of local knowledge that only a resident can supply. So far home exchange has given us some very unique experiences on this trip and at the same time created friendships that are very special.
It was a lovely experience meeting Chris and Roby's son and daughter in law and their children when they stayed in our London apartment. So later when Chris and Roby arrived in Portsmouth we were happy to receive them as house guests. Now we can't wait to be in New Zealand to stay in their lovely Pakuranga home. I am sure we will renew our friendship. These exchanges add so much to our travel experiences.
